After a brief drought of news with nary a spoiler in sight, Wizards is about to reveal all. Initially announced earlier this year, Wizards Presents 2022 is primed to tell all there is to know about the next year of Magic: the Gathering. As a result, this presentation is undoubtedly worth a watch once it airs later this week. We’ll also provide plenty of analysis and commentary, so make you don’t miss out on that!
What Is Wizards Presents 2022?
Previously known as Magic Showcase, Wizards Presents is Wizards of the Coast’s big 2022 presentation that reveals what they’re up to throughout the year. Streamed live on YouTube and Twitch, the event is being hosted by Jimmy Wong, Sydnee Goodman, and Ginny Di. Focusing on Magic: the Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons, the event is dubbed 2022’s “biggest day of announcements yet.” Whether you’re a fan of MTG or D&D, this will undoubtedly be the show to watch.
When Is Wizards Presents 2022?
Wizards Presents 2022 is due to be broadcast on the 18th of August at 9 am PT. For those in ET and BST, the event will be posted at 12 pm and 5 pm, respectively.
Currently, the duration of the Livestream is not yet known. 2021’s Magic Showcase ran for around 1 hour, so it’s likely Wizards Presents 2022 will be a similar length.
What to Expect From Wizards Presents 2022
Alongside reveals and information about Dungeons & Dragons products releasing throughout 2022, Wizards Presents will have a significant focus on Magic: the Gathering. Primarily, the show will go into detail on Dominaria United. This means a “deep dive into the cards, mechanics, and big reveals of Dominaria United” ahead of its September release. The announcement-rich Livestream also marks the official start date for Dominaria United’s spoiler season.
Besides plenty of information about Dominaria United, Wizards Presents 2022 will also show us what’s to come in Magic’s future. This likely means we’ll have 2023’s Magic sets officially named. Currently, the following sets in Magic are only known by their codenames: Lacrosse, Marathon, Marathon Epilogue, Netball, and Offroading. We’re not expecting to see much from these sets, but we’d be amazed if we didn’t learn their names, at least.
As if details about Magic’s following premier sets weren’t intriguing enough, there is even more on the docket to look forward to. This includes details about Secret Lair and Universes Beyond products in 2022 and 2023. Fans should expect further information surrounding the Warhammer 40,000 Commander decks and the Tales of Middle-Earth Draft set. There may even be more surprise Secret Lair reveals to look forward to, but for that, we’ll just have to wait and see.
