Article at a Glance

Because MTG could never do anything too by the book, instead of the usual dusting mechanic that exists in other CCGs, we’ve got MTG Arena Wildcards instead.

In other games, you can break cards down and then craft new ones using the dust or whatever currency you earned from dismantling other cards.

In MTG Arena, that’s not the case.

So, here’s everything you need to know about MTG Arena Wildcards.

What are MTG Arena Wildcards?

So, MTG Arena Wildcards are one of the only ways available to get specific cards you want without having to buy just so many packs.

They come in Common, Uncommon, Rare, and Mythic Rare varieties, and can be exchanged for any card of the same rarity.

They also have a host of issues, but the simplest one is that there’s very rarely anything you can do with the 4 million Common and Uncommon ones you own.

We’d love to see a system where we could trade them up into a higher rarity, but it doesn’t seem to be happening anytime soon.

How can you earn MTG Arena Wildcards?

You can earn MTG Arena Wildcards in a few different ways, but most of them are related to opening packs.

Every time you open a pack you’ll have a chance of receiving Wildcards of various rarities instead of a card of the same rarity. Not only that, but you’ll also build u the wheel in the top-right of the screen, so you’ll get a Rare or Mythic Rare Wildcard when that’s full.

On top of that, whenever you open a copy of a card you already own four copies of, you’ll earn progression in the Vault. You’ll be able to open it up every so often to get a bunch of Wildcards.

Finally, you can earn Wildcards via the Mastery Pass too.

How can you use MTG Arena Wildcards?

Finally, you need to know how to actually use the Wildcards.

You’ll generally want to do this while building a deck. Make sure you can see cards you’ve not collected, click on the card you want, and craft it.

It’s that simple.

Also, if you import a deck with a bunch of cards that need crafting, you can hit Craft All on the bottom-right of the screen to get them all done at once.
