Pets in Magic: The Gathering Arena are animated companions that players can see on the side of their screen during a match. Each player can select one pet to display, and although they don’t functionally do anything to influence the game, it’s a nice cosmetic that adds spice to MTG Arena. Most pets can be purchased or unlocked via the game’s battlepass, but one of the recent pets has a unique requirement for you to unlock, and it’s totally free!
How to Unlock the Thopter Pet in MTG Arena
To unlock the Thopter pet, all you have to do is log in to the Magic: The Gathering Arena mobile app in any iOS or Android device. After you log in for the first time, the game should give you a notification saying that you’ve unlocked the Thopter pet, then it will remind you if you want to select this as the pet that will appear during your match. Since the MTG Arena mobile app is a free-to-play game, there is no purchase necessary to unlock this pet. If you’ve unlocked the Thopter pet, but haven’t set it as your desired pet. Here are instructions on how to change your pet in MTG Arena:
- Open MTG Arena.
- Select the Profile tab at the top of the window.
- Click the Pet Select button.
- Choose your desired pet, then click the Confirm button.
