Earlier today, Wizards of the Coast (WotC) previewed the upcoming set schedule for next year. We’re going back to Kamigawa and Dominaria, with a few new planes mixed in too. We’re also getting a bunch of new and exciting Secret Lair drops with Universes Beyond.
But, there are a couple of other product releases that flew under the radar during the stream, in particular, Commander Collection: Black. Late last year, we saw Commander Collection: Green which saw highly desirable Green cards such as Sylvan Library and Worldly Tutor reprinted to player’s delight. Fortunately, the Black offering looks to yield similar excitement for Commander players.
Commander Collection: Black Contents
Coming soon, the Commander Collection: Black offers a suite of eight powerful cards for any Commander Black mage. Included in the box is Toxic Deluge, Phyrexian Arena, Command Tower, Ghoulcaller Gisa, Reanimate, Liliana, Heretical Healer, Sol Ring, and Ophiomancer.

More importantly, Commander Collection: Black will have a 1/1 Black Deathtouch Snake token for the first time with Ophiomancer’s reprinting. Originally, Ophiomancer was printed in Commander 2013 which didn’t come with tokens in the pre-constructed decks at the time. There have been calls from the MTG community for years to print a token since the Human Shaman is featured heavily in Commander decks and Cubes. However, if you want to grab one, you’ll have to acquire one through purchasing the product.
Commander Collection: Black will be only available at your local games store, with an option for a foil variant for WPN Premium stores. There is no official release date yet but expect Wizards of the Coast to announce that soon.
