Yesterday, Wizards of the Coast revealed a new batch of spoilers for Innistrad Remastered. Launching as the first MTG set of 2025, this reprint-filled release continues a running trend of compellingly flavorful remastered releases. As time has gone on, Wizards appears to be getting more and more right with each new set in this line.
Innistrad Remastered, for example, is packed full of all kinds of exciting collectible variants and compelling $40 reprints. There’s already a lot for would-be collectors to get excited about, and we’ve only just scratched the surface. For better or worse, that’s all we’re getting for now, however, as Innistrad Remastered is taking a break.
Unlike past remastered sets, Wizards isn’t showing off everything before the end of 2024. The expected spoiler season for Innistrad Remastered has been unusually delayed, as now players are being forced to wait until 2025. Given hype is currently at an all-time high for the set, this may be a rather unusual choice…
Innistrad Remastered Spoilers Begin in 2025
Yesterday’s WeeklyMTG had an incredible amount of goodies to reveal. Including multiple $40 reprints, a subset of cards that aren’t even necessarily related to Innistrad, and some scarce Retro border cards, there’s a lot for collectors to look forward to. Regardless of whether you’re looking forward to purchasing Edgar Markov for a reasonable price, or blinging up your Commander deck with insane new variants, Innistrad Remastered promises what you’re looking for.
While this look into 2025’s first Magic set was indeed magical, it’s also the last time we’re going to see Innistrad Remastered this year. It was stated multiple times during Weekly MTG that the next time we’d see Innistrad Remastered spoilers would be in the new year. As a result, players won’t even get a ‘where to find’ spoilers article from Wizards of the Coast until 2025. When the time comes, another WeeklyMTG will kick off the festivities, showing off tons of Innistrad Remastered cards.
Currently, the exact start date for Innistrad Remastered’s spoiler season has not been confirmed. Given the set is scheduled to be released on January 24th, with prerelease-ish events a week beforehand, players shouldn’t be waiting long. At the latest, we should know much more about Innistrad Remastered by January 14th, 2025.
What About December?
Since we know that Innistrad Remastered is on the back burner until January, it certainly leads to another question: what exactly is going on for the rest of December?
Well, Pioneer Masters is coming out on MTG Arena soon. Next week, Explorer will finally catch up to the Pioneer format so Pioneer fans can soon try out their favorite decks on MTG Arena. This all happens on December 10th, and will hopefully go smoothly, without any game-breaking bugs.
Following on from this, one week later MTG players are getting 2024’s final Banned and Restricted announcement. Taking place on December 16th, it’s expected this ban window will have huge impacts on multiple formats. At the very least, many players expect The One Ring will finally get banned in Modern.
Otherwise, there is a possibility that we could see some early Aetherdrift spoilers in December. When asking about Aetherdrift spoiler season kickoff during the WeeklyMTG event, fans simply got a ‘soon’ in response. This could mean anything, but if anything is going to happen it’ll be next week on the 10th, since the week after will be ban-focused.
Otherwise, it’s important to remember that Wizards of the Coast has an extended break for the holiday season. So, once Christmas starts to creep up, Wizards of the Coast won’t really be doing much, because everyone will be enjoying the holiday season with their families.
While we hope that Wizards of the Coast has a bit more gifts to give this holiday season, there is a very real chance that these are the last spoilers we will get to see until the new year, which is ok. Magic spoilers are a relentless hype machine, and getting a break every once in a while is a good thing.
