In the world of modern Magic: The Gathering (the game, not the format) it’s hard to know exactly when a new product is fully released. In the grand scheme of things, it’s not too hard to track once you understand how new standard sets like Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty are rolled out.
New products are typically released onto MTG Arena first and then hit paper a little later. The same structure applies to Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty and we’re going to lay things out so you’ve got no doubts about when the cards are released!

When is the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Paper Release?
We’re finally creeping up on the full paper release for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty although we still have a few important dates to get through first. As is the new norm, the set will be playable first via MTG Arena on Thursday, 10 February.
Next on the calendar is the prerelease which takes place on Friday, 11 February. If you attend a local event, you may be able to purchase a prerelease kit or additional products to use during events.
Now for the big date to circle on the calendar. The full paper release of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty will take place on Friday, 18 February. This is when you’ll be able to purchase all available products from any local game store or online retailer.
The community has very mixed feelings about a digital-first approach. On one hand, it’s great for players who primarily use MTG Arena as their source of play. However, players who prefer in-person events, they’re at risk of being behind the curve when it comes to card synergy or general knowledge. Regardless of which side of the fence you fall on, at least you now know exactly when you can get your hands on Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty.
