It’s the most exciting time of the standard set timeline as we slowly creep up to the prerelease of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty and subsequent full release one week later. We’ll be cracking packs for mythic pulls in no time!
Whether you’re heading to your local game store, heading online to Spelltable or doing something from the comfort of your own home, prerelease is still a great time to get to grips with a brand new set. There were rumblings of prerelease might become an in-store exclusive event again but the Covid-19 Pandemic is still a big factor in these decisions.

What is the Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Prerelease Date?

Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty‘s prerelease date is Friday, 12 February. As has been the case with the past few standard sets, the product is available on MTG Arena before anywhere else.
Prerelease kits haven’t undergone any kind of massive change for some time now. This means that inside each kit, you should receive six draft boosters, a themed D20 and a premium stamped promo card of any rare or mythic from the set.
The purpose of a prerelease kit is to act as a draft pack to build a deck with and compete against others at events either in-store or online. A big argument for not releasing sets on MTG Arena first is to ensure that no one has an advantage at prerelease events having played and drafted with the set before an in-person event.
Regardless, Wizards of the Coast have committed to their release schedule and we see no reason for changes to be made for the foreseeable future. Check with your local game store to see if they are offering any additional promotions with prerelease kits. Some will offer 1-2 additional draft boosters if you pre-order a kit.
