This week, spoilers for Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate began. Wizards of the Coast gave a sneak peek of Double Masters 2022. And Streets of New Capenna continues to influence the market.
Welcome to The MTG Marketplace, a weekly article on MTG Rocks where we cover each week’s biggest price spikes and overall market trends.
Weekly Winners
Ashling, the Extinguisher
Here’s a card many players likely haven’t heard of. Ashling, the Extinguisher, went from $4.00 to about $20.00 this week.
Ashling, the Extinguisher, is like a Diabolic Edict on a creature. This type of effect is good at removing creatures with pesky keywords like indestructible, hexproof, and ward.
This is a great addition to Commander decks that make their creatures elusive, such as Kamiz, Obscura Oculus from the Obscura Operation Commander deck that just came out.

Parallel Lives
Hopefully, Wizards of the Coast reprints this Commander staple soon as it definitely needs one. It’s never had a reprint (besides a Judge Promo), and keeps trending up in price, with the most recent development being a spike from $55.00 to about $60.00 for lightly played copies.

Hidetsugu Consumes All
This Saga had a big price spike about a month ago, jumping from $2.00 to about $11.00. But since then, Hidetsugu Consumes All trended back down in price, almost to where it started. At the time of writing, Hidetsugu Consumes All is about $2.50.
This doesn’t mean this is a bad card; it’s just more niche than people hyped it up to be. But plenty of decks still use Hidetsugu Consumes All which I covered in another article.
Upcoming Reprints
These prices are going to fall substantially over the next month. Wizards of the Coast revealed all of these cards will be reprinted in Double Masters 2022 which will come out July 8.
