Strixhaven: School of Mages (STX) is a Standard-legal Magic: The Gathering set that will officially be released for tabletop at the end of April, and the set will also be released for Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic Online, so if you want to know all the important dates, we have all the information below.
Featuring 275 cards with focus on the five colleges of Strixhaven, the most elite university located in the plane of Arvacios in the Magic Multiverse, Strixhaven is a bottom-up magical school-themed set that features dual colors in conflict with one another. Official previews will begin on March 25, 2021 at 9 a.m. PT, and you can check out our Strixhaven spoiler section for the latest previews.
Here are all the important dates for Strixhaven:
- March 25: Spoiler season begins with a stream on Twitch.
- April 14: MTG Arena Early Access Strixhaven streamer event.
- April 15: Digital release of Strixhaven via MTG Arena and Magic Online.
- April 16 to 22: Official Strixhaven prerelease week
- April 23: Official tabletop release of Strixhaven, along with Commander 2021.
According to Strixhaven’s lore, the five colleges of the Strixhaven university are Quandrix (blue/green), Silverquill (black/white), Prismari (blue/red), Lorehold (red/white), and Witherbloom (black/green).

5 brand new Commander decks will also be released along with the main Strixhaven set, and 3 of the Commanders were recently teased by Magic senior designer Gavin Verhey.
