Reality Fracture is a fantastic Magic set on multiple axes, but one of its best aspects is the Echoverse versions of popular legendary creatures. These put interesting flavorful and mechanical spins on some of the game’s most beloved characters, like an Orzhov Lifegain Niv-Mizzet and a sacrifice-focused Avacyn. Omnath, Locus of the Void, a particularly strong card in this category, takes the multicolored MTG Elemental and reimagines it as a fully colorless Commander.
Omnath, Locus of the Void MTG

In a callback to its original Mono-Green variant, Omnath, Locus of the Void’s key gimmick is storing mana between turns and phases. In this case that mana becomes colorless, but since you can only run colorless cards in an Omnath deck anyway this isn’t much of a downside.
To make the most of this ability, you’ll want to lean into explosive colorless mana generators like
Thran Dynamo

and

. Colorless mana doublers like

to push things even further. Normally with these cards you run the risk of wasting excess mana each turn, but Omnath solves that problem while buffing itself in the bargain.
Another way to generate huge bursts of mana with Omnath is to build around Landfall, which nets you an

s worth of mana with every drop. Colorless Fetchlands like

are must-runs, giving you easy access to the Tron lands for even more mana generation.
Once you’ve built up a ton of mana, Omnath will be a fearsome threat on stats alone, making a Voltron playstyle more than viable. With evasion-granting Equipment like
Whispersilk Cloak

Omnath’s mana-stacking ability also gives you access to a bunch of powerful colorless mana outlets. Cards like

, which get much better when you can invest multiple turns’ worth of resources into them.
If you’re more of a spender than a saver, Omnath’s ability to generate big chunks of colorless mana makes it an ideal home for an Eldrazi Typal sub-theme. You can easily drop huge haymakers like

Crushing it With Colorless

Even when played fairly, Omnath, Locus of the Void gives you easy access to plenty of options and a huge beater on the ground, too. The card does have some unfair ways of ending games on the spot, however, such as its infinite Landfall combo with

first, ensuring a win as long as you have at least two mana floating.
Overall, while it’s technically less versatile than the many rainbow-hued Omnaths of the past, Locus of the Void still looks like a fantastic Commander. Though it’s pricey itself, the mana generation and storage here get out of hand fast, resulting in a surprisingly complex deck when you dig into it. Once Reality Fracture hits on October 2nd, you could do worse than try this new Echoverse Elemental.
