To kick off the year with a bang, Innistrad Remastered is the first MTG set to launch in 2025. Providing plenty of plane-themed reprints, this release continues a recent trend of early-year remastered releases. While this may all seem very by the numbers, there’s a lot to be about with Innistrad Remastered.
Not only is Innistrad Remastered the first set containing a Headliner card, but there are plenty of exciting collectible elements. High-value reprints and gorgeous showcase treatments should hopefully make this a remastered set to remember. Now that Wizards has revealed major details about the set, it certainly seems there’s a lot to look forward to.
To keep you in the know, there’s everything there is to know about Innistrad: Remastered right now.
MTG Innistrad Remastered Release Date
To kick things off with what everyone wants to know, Innistrad Remastered will officially be released on January 24th, 2025. As mentioned, this makes it the first of the seven MTG sets being released throughout the year. Somewhat uniquely, it’s expected that Innistrad Remastered will be properly revealed and spoiled before 2024 is over.
Here are all the official dates for Innistrad Remastered:
- Innistrad Remastered Release Date: January 24th, 2025
- Innistrad Remastered Prerelease Dates: January 17th – January 23rd, 2025
Despite recently giving players new information and spoilers to enjoy, the spoiler season for Innistrad Remastered hasn’t started yet. According to Wizards, we won’t be seeing more of this set until sometime in 2025. Given the set’s release date hopefully, we shouldn’t be left waiting long for more spoilers. At the latest, we’d expect a huge spoiler dump by January 14th, 2025, at least.
MTG Innistrad Remastered Spoilers
To close out 2024, Wizards of the Coast revealed a fresh batch of spoilers for Innistrad: Remastered. Joining the previously revealed Edgar Markov and Deadeye Navigator we now know a lot more about what to expect from the set. Thankfully, it appears there are plenty of staples and high-value cards that are getting reprinted very soon.
Unsurprisingly, a lot of the best cards from the many Innistrad sets are getting a long overdue reprint. The $40 Emrakul, the Promised End, for instance, is reappearing once again in a variety of collectible variants. The same is true for The Meathook Massacre which also typically sells for around $40.
On top of these valuable bombs, there are plenty of classic Innistrad cards that are great to see once again. Even if they’re not expensive, it just wouldn’t be an Innistrad Remastered set without cards like Thraben Inspector and Archangel Avacyn. Even if these cards aren’t amazingly exciting to open when cracking backs, hopefully, they’ll help create a fantastic limited environment.
Speaking of limited, Innistrad Remastered also contains a retro frame bonus sheet. With one retro frame card appearing in every pack, you can expect to see these cards all over. Notably, five mythic rare cards only appear in the retro frame treatment. These retro-locked reprints include Liliana of the Veil and Snapcaster Mage.
In total, Wizards of the Coast has only revealed 30 cards from Innistrad Remastered. Sadly, that’s all we’re getting in 2024. To stop us from being too overwhelmed, Wizards is holding back more until 2025. Subsequently, we’ll have to wait until early January for the set’s spoiler season to start in earnest.
MTG Innistrad Remastered Booster Fun
Given it’s an MTG set being released in the modern age, Innistrad Remastered features multiple different Booster Fun treatments. Found between Play Boosters and Collector Boosters, these should add some added spice to the pack cracking experience. From what we’ve seen so far, Innistrad Remastered has three major Booster Fun treatments.
Retro Frame | As we mentioned earlier, Retro Frame cards are returning in Innistrad Remastered. While this may sound straightforward so far, this set is introducing double-faced Retro Frame cards.
Showcase Frame | Much like many other MTG sets, Innistrad Remastered will also have a fancy plane-themed frame. For this set, Wizards is bringing back the Showcase Fang Frame from Innistrad: Crimson Vow.
Movie Poster | In a somewhat similar vein to Duskmourn: House of Horror, Innistrad Remastered is also getting Movie Poster cards. Currently, it’s unclear what these posters will look like, however, they’re bound to be flavorfully gothic-inspired.
Headliner Card | Kicking off a new trend going forward, Innistrad Remastered is the first MTG set with a Headliner Card. Going forward, it seems this new special treatment is given to one card in each set. For Innistrad Remastered, Edgar Markov is the all-important Headliner card, and they’ll be getting a serialized treatment for maximum fanciness.
MTG Innistrad Remastered Set Details
So far, Wizards of the Coast has been keeping details about Innistrad Remastered fairly close to its chest. That said, we do at least know the sets that Innistrad Remastered will pull from. Including the plane’s debut in 2011, Wizards has returned to Innistrad on seven separate occasions.
The main sets that make up Innistrad Remastered are as follows:
- Innistrad
- Dark Ascension
- Avacyn Restored
- Shadows over Innistrad
- Eldritch Moon
- Innistrad: Midnight Hunt
- Innistrad: Crimson Vow
On top of these core Innistrad sets, Innistrad Remastered can pull from supplemental sets, too. Cards from Commander 2017, for instance, are fair game since Edgar Markov is returning in this reprint set. Thanks to this, Wizards should have no trouble filling out this set with plenty of exciting cards to make a compelling Limited environment.
As if all that wasn’t enough, Wizards of the Coast has revealed that non-Innistrad cards will appear in Innistrad Remastered. Breaking the tradition of Remastered sets this is a curious, yet potentially fantastic move. Having vaguely Innistrad-esque cards like Mass Hysteria in the set could make things a lot more exciting. If nothing else, it should keep MTG players on their toes throughout Innistrad Remastred’s spoiler season.
Sadly, it is not expected that Innistrad Remastered will be released on MTG Arena.
