Aaron Forsythe reveals the rarity of reprints in Modern Horizons 2
The first week of official Modern Horizons 2 previews kicked off today with more new Magic: The Gathering cards revealed, but just like the first Modern Horizons set released in 2019, the upcoming straight-to-Modern set will also feature some reprints that are new to Modern Constructed format, and it looks like players will have a good chance of getting them in Modern Horizons 2 boosters.
Wizards of the Coast’s Aaron Forsythe recently confirmed on Twitter that there is one new-to-Modern reprint per Modern Horizons 2 booster pack, and that they will never take up the normal rare slot. According to Forsythe, Limited balance influence these decisions.
A note on the "rarity" of reprints in MH2… There is one new-to-Modern reprint per pack. This never takes up your normal rare slot. What "rare" means here is "How often does Wonder show up as my reprint?" Limited balance influenced these decisions a lot. https://t.co/u5EQ0DxdUG

A good portion of Modern Horizons 2 will feature reprints (about 30% or less), so this probability makes sense. The set will also feature reprints of cards from the first Modern Horizons set, but in retro frame and foil-etched versions. However, fans can only find these kinds of reprints from Modern Horizons 2 Collector Booster boxes, which are now available to pre-order on TCGPlayer and Amazon.
