Article at a Glance

Fans of Magic: The Gathering Arena‘s Historic format rejoice, because Wizards of the Coast has just unveiled their Historic Anthology IV! This latest airdrop of older MTG cards into Historic will release on March 11, 2021. And while you will always be able to craft these cards using wildcards, the bundle will cost 4,000 Gems or 25,000 Gold and will be available through June 10.

We recently found out WotC planned to drop a new collection of Historic cards, and they didn’t keep us waiting long before revealing the contents of the set. The initial announcement came as a slight surprise, given that it had been almost a year since the last Anthology dropped. Arena seemed to have turned to remastered sets like Amonkhet and Kaladesh as a way to make older cards legal in Historic.

The new Historic Anthology will add 25 cards from MTG’s past to Arena‘s non-rotating format. It looks like the team behind the format had some archetypes in mind they wanted to boost. Hopefully the new Anthology spawns one or two cool new decks in time for the Kaldheim Championship on March 26.

Here are all 25 new Historic cards, starting with White!

At first glance, this Historic Anthology looks like an eclectic mix of cards intended to spice up Historic and power up some Brawl strategies. Death’s Shadow jumps off the page as the obvious headliner of this release. It will be interesting to see whether there are enough ways to enable this powerful Modern staple.
