Gorgeous Doctor Strange Promo May be Worth a Fortune

The New York Comic Con is underway, and a boatload of new information and products have already been previewed. This includes a group of five MTG X Marvel Secret Lairs. Each of these offers a mechanically unique Superhero alongside some neat reprints with new art. An entire Marvel Spiderman-themed product was also announced.

For fans of MTG and Marvel, there’s a lot to look forward to. Interestingly, if you were lucky enough to make it to the panel where these products were previewed, you may have even been able to walk away with some sweet comics and a unique Doctor Strange promo MTG card as a token of appreciation. Given how difficult it was to get a spot at the panel in the first place, this is a very nice treat.

Comics and Promos

While it may look like there are just three Magic cards shown above, the Wolverine and Storm “cards” are actually comic variants that were given out at the booth at New York Comic Con. Attendees were given either the Wolverine or Storm comic in addition to the Doctor Strange Counterspell MTG card.

The Counterspell in particular looks incredible. It’s no surprise that many players are eager to try to obtain them. Unfortunately, the distribution seems to be rather limited.

As far as we know, this promo Counterspell was only given out to those who were able to attend the panel. While it remains unclear, there’s a chance these promos remain exclusive to this particular Comic Con.

This alone would naturally drive up the price of the Counterspell. Once you factor in the overall demand based on the art and theme, we could be talking about quite a valuable promo.

On top of that, the panel itself was not easy to get into, even for those who went to the Comic Con. Reddit user SWBFThree2020 stated above that they didn’t make the cut-off despite showing up two hours before the panel began. It sounds like there were tons of people waiting to try to get in.

Barring any future giveaways, these Counterspells will almost undoubtedly sell for a large amount in the secondary market. For fans of Doctor Strange and blue decks, make sure to be on the lookout for any information that comes out about the card’s future availability.
