Roughly sixteen years ago, MTG released Kamigawa, a block inspired by Japanese Shinto mythology which saw divided opinions from players. Soon after, Saviors and Betrayers of Kamigawa followed which saw some quirky cards and unique legendaries, making it a set to remember.

Set 2000 years later, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty is the second return to the plane but offers a futuristic backdrop. Expect to see Ninjas, Samurais, and a cyberpunk feel to a once traditional plane. Announced late last year, the set will drop in the first quarter of 2022.

Release Date and Preview Schedule

Wizards of the Coast haven’t revealed any new cards from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty yet, but expect the cards to drop around January leading up to the release. At present, the MTG Arena and Magic Online release date is February 11, with tabletop release falling on February 18.

  • Prerelease: February 11–17, 2022
  • Release: February 18, 2022
  • Launch Party: February 18–20, 2022

These release dates are confirmed for now, but could fall back a week or two given the recent distribution issues which saw Innistrad: Midnight Hunt and Innistrad: Crimson Vow delayed by a week.
