The Most Expensive Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Cards

Marvel's priciest bits on the side!

Now that the set has had the weekend to settle since its official release, we’re seeing the price drop off for a lot of the cards in Marvel Super Heroes. The same can’t be said for much of its Jumpstart set, however, as many of the big cards still command fearsome prices. If you want to know what to look out for when cracking these extra-curricular packs, these are the most expensive cards in Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart.

5 | Devil Dinosaur

Devil Dinosaur

Price: $41.34

Since Dinosaurs tend to be bulky enough to survive board wipes, single target removal is typically fantastic against them. Devil Dinosaur shuts that avenue down, making your Dinosaur boards much more resilient as a result. Any Dinosaur Typal Commander deck, be it Pantlaza, Sun-Favored or Gishath, Sun’s Avatar, is more than likely going to want to add this beast to its ranks.

Due to this, Devil Dinosaur is currently selling for $41.34, which makes it the most expensive Jumpstart rare by a significant margin. Since it only appears in the rare Savage Lands theme, however, it’s a mythic-level scarce card, so this price may not move much for a while.

4 | Ultron The Annihilator

Ultron the Annihilator

Price: $55.60

Ultron might be the best-represented Villain in all of Marvel Super Heroes, getting a fantastic main set mythic and a great Commander deck card to boot. Ultron the Annihilator makes it a hat trick, providing a token generator and potent combo payoff in one.

Making 2/2s on entry and attack isn’t incredible, but they are at least artifacts, which fuels Ultron’s much better second ability. This is essentially a Syr Konrad, the Grim for artifacts, burning each opponent whenever one hits your ‘yard from anywhere. Naturally, this lets you pursue a kind of ‘Artifact Aristocrats’ game plan, but you can also mill a ton of artifacts with the likes of Mesmeric Orb for similar results.

As Ultron is the first MTG card we’ve seen that really enables this playstyle for artifact decks, it’s understandably expensive at $55.60. Add in the fact that it only appears in the self-titled Ultron theme pack, and that price tag makes even more sense.

3 | Loki, Lord Of Misrule

Most Expensive Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Cards Loki Lord of Misrule

Price: $58.82

Wizards has really pushed the boat out in terms of legend rule-skirting copy effects in Marvel Super Heroes, and Loki, Lord of Misrule is perhaps the best example. Turning all of your creatures into copies of one of them has endless potential for shenanigans.

Whether you’re creating a full board of Blightsteel Colossus or Arcanis the Omnipotent, Loki has serious potential for huge value turns. It also unlocks some pretty spicy infinite turn combos, by turning everything into Timestream Navigator or Avatar Kuruk. With so much excellent utility, I expect Loki to be a very popular Commander before long, despite its restrictive Mono-Blue identity.

As with the rest of the cards on this list, Loki, Lord of Misrule only appears in a single Jumpstart theme: Tricksters. This makes it one of the rarest cards in the set, somewhat justifying its eye-watering $58.82 price tag.

2 | The Vision And Scarlet Witch

Price: $60.52

Red has built up a sizable stack of creatures that generate mana as you sling spells by this point, from Storm-Kiln Artist to Birgi, God of Storyelling. The Vision and Scarlet Witch is, essentially, a worse Birgi, giving you mana for every spell cast but without that card’s mana retention and flip side.

While that doesn’t sound like a great deal, it’s important to remember that Birgi is a serious Commander staple. According to EDHREC it shows up in over 243,000 decks, including high-level cEDH lists like Vivi Ornitier and Rograkh/Silas. Despite being more expensive and less useful overall, The Vision and Scarlet Witch could easily see play in similar decks for redundancy.

With this established competitive pedigree behind it, it’s no surprise that The Vision and Scarlet Witch is one of the most expensive cards in Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart. While $60.52 seems high given the lower prices of Birgi and other alternatives, we’ve certainly seen Jumpstart scarcity prop up similar prices before.

1 | Doctor Doom, Unrivaled

Most Expensive Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart Cards Doctor Doom Unrivaled

Price: $77.60

Speaking of potential cEDH playables, Doctor Doom, Unrivaled is very much in that camp himself. By essentially providing a Thassa’s Oracle trigger on an activated ability, Doom opens up an exciting new Mono-Black option in the format. With classics like Tainted Pact and Demonic Consultation, Doom is capable of fairly consistent turn two wins in cEDH.

Given how much players have been discussing Doom’s potential since its reveal, it’s no wonder it’s expensive. With legs in the command zone and in the 99, Doctor Doom, Unrivaled could easily go the distance. With all of this in mind, Doom’s Unrivaled $77.60 price tag feels appropriate right now.
