Magic: the Gathering is a near 30 year old game. It has a long and storied history of creating new, fantastic and iconic pieces of cardboard that are adored by fans the world around. Some cards are more iconic that others; Black Lotus, Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Channel and Fireball to name a few. One card that may not be quite as iconic as the aforementioned, is Mind Rot.
Mind Rot was originally printed back in the Portal in 1997. Then it was reprinted in 7th Edition in 2001. Since then It has been Standard Legal in every iteration of Standard since, potentially until now. With the Standard rotation happening this month, unless Mind Rot is reprinted in Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, we will have a Standard environment where Mind Rot is not legal. While it may seem like a silly thing, Mind Rot is the longest running standard legal card in the game’s history.
