Article at a Glance

Earlier last week, the Command Zone Twitter tweeted a teaser image for their upcoming Game Knights episode featuring actor Joe Manganiello.

Manganiello is a massive MTG and D&D fan and has contributed to both games in a huge way. The True Blood star has created various classes and modules for Dungeons & Dragons. Also, Manganiello has chaired D&D campaigns in the past with Tom Morello, Paul “The Big Show” Wight, and Vince Vaughn as players.

On Monday, Game Knights released the episode featuring Manganiello and Becca Scott of Geek & Sundry fame. The pod battle it out with the recent Adventure in the Forgotten Realms pre-constructed Commander decks, watch the video below to find out who is the victor!

What is Joe Manganiello Playing?

Vondriss-rage-of-ancients

As this episode focuses on the Forgotten Realms Commander pre-constructed decks, Manganiello opted for Draconic Rage. At the helm is Vrondiss, Rage of Ancients which cares about the Enrage ability and rolling dice. Becca Scott opts for Planar Portal featuring Propser Tomb-Bound, while Josh Lee-Kwai chooses Aura of Courage with Gaela, Kindler of Hope. Lastly, Jimmy Wong is playing the Dungeons of Death deck with Serfis of the Hidden Ways leading the charge.

These decks are straight out of the box with no other cards added, so it’s interesting to see how these play out from the get-go. This isn’t the first time we have seen Manganiello sling MTG cards as in collaboration with Day9, Manganiello played with MTG cards as part of the Spellslinger series for Geek & Sundry.

The rise of Commander continues on an incredible trajectory, with names such as Cassius Marsh and Post Malone all playing the singleton format on Game Knights. With more high profile names playing Commander, who knows who will guest on Game Knights next!
