Article at a Glance

It’s Lost Caverns of Ixalan release day! Now that the set is fully released and on shelves, its a good time to get your hands on some elite reprints from the set. There are a ton of goodies available for any MTG player, and grabbing them now may save you some money later.

Here are some stellar reprints to consider picking up for yourself from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan for cheap!

Growing Rites of Itlimoc

Growing Rites of Itlimoc was, and remains, one of the best Commander cards from the original Ixalan block. Finding a creature card with the frontside of the card is nothing to write home about, but getting a Gaia’s Cradle that doesn’t break the bank is a completely different ordeal.

Thanks to providing boatloads of mana for creature-based Commander decks, Growing Rites of Itlimoc had a significant secondary market price over the past year, peaking at $22. Now, you can acquire this newly reprinted card from The Lost Caverns of Ixalan for just $4 over on TCGplayer.

Treasure Map

Treasure Map hasn’t had a reprint since the original Ixalan block. The card provides a steady stream of card selection and card advantage that can double as emergency ramp. If your deck cares about Treasure Tokens in any way, shape, or form, Treasure Map is a decent inclusion.

Over the past year, Treasure Map’s secondary market price peaked at $5, but has stayed relatively stable. That said, this is no longer Treasure Map’s cheapest secondary market price. You can currently acquire Treasure Map for just 30 cents in The Lost Caverns of Ixalan. This is a very good price for what you’re getting.

Cavern of Souls

Cavern of Souls

Of all the reprints in the main set of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan, this is the big one. Reprinting Cavern of Souls in the main set is a big deal for multiple reasons. Alongside making the $60+ card much more accessible, it also means Cavern of Souls is legal in Pioneer and Standard, something that was not the case before the release of The Lost Caverns of Ixalan.

Despite the cheapest copy of Cavern of Souls being about $30 currently, that was not the case just a few months ago. Even though the card was reprinted recently in Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth, prices persisted around $50. There is a chance that this card could drop further, but it’s likely only temporary. Cavern of Souls remains one of the best typal payoffs in MTG history, and if you’re interested, it’s likely only a matter of time until the Cavern starts regaining some value, whether its finished dropping or not.

Black Market Connections

Black Market Connections

Black Market Connections saw a reprint in one of the Lost Caverns of Ixalan Commander decks (sadly, the worst one). This card has solidified itself as a newer Commander staple thanks to the ludicrous amounts of value it offers its users. The card does have quite the hefty cost on your life total, however. The value is worth the trade, but some decks can utilize this card better than others.

Before the reprint, Black Market Connections only had one printing from Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur’s Gate. The card floated around the $30 mark until its reprinting was announced, causing it to take a big hit.

Now, Black Market Connections can be found for around $17, which is certainly an improvement.

Exquisite Blood

Found as the premium reprint in the Blood Rites deck, Exquisite Blood had a massive secondary market price coming into The Lost Caverns of Ixalan. Famously part of the two-card infinite combo between itself and Sanguine Blood, Exquisite Blood is the rarer half of a combo that drains all of your opponents of all their life.

Last printed in Jumpstart (outside of a Secret Lair), Exquisite Blood maintained a steady $35 price tag. Now, the card is only going for $20, which is quite a price reduction for interested parties.

Timestream Navigator

Timestream Navigator is yet another card that finds itself in a handful of different infinite combos. The card recently saw a strong secondary market spike thanks to its synergy with River Song from the Doctor Who expansion. By inverting your deck, essentially, Timestream Navigator puts itself on top of your deck instead of at the bottom.

After River Song broke this card in half, Timestream Navigator’s price rose to $10 pretty quickly. Considering that this reprint marks the first one Timestream Navigator has seen its initial printing in the original Ixalan block, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the card is still trying to find a new price point. Either way, if $4 is worth it for you to acquire this card, that’s where it is right now.

Apex Altisaur

Apex Altisaur’s secondary market value soared as players geared up for The lost Caverns of Ixalan. The small, but very enthusiastically received Dinosaur support from the Doctor Who Commander decks accelerated things even further. This all resulted in Apex Altisaur spiking to $12 rather quickly.

This spike likely would have increased further if the card weren’t reprinted in the Veloci-Ramp-Tor deck. Now, players wanting to pick up the Altisaur for their own decks only have to pay $5 for it.

Francisco, Fowl Marauder

Ok, so Francisco, unlike the rest of this list, is not a reprint. That said, there are a lot of cEDH players paying this card some serious attention, and if it does end up being a mover in that format, it is seriously undervalued at the moment.

I said a similar thing on my Best Commander cards for Ixalan list. Francisco is either a total miss outside of some niche strategies, or takes center stage in the cEDH metagame. There’s no guarantee that this card is super busted, but if it ends up being good enough to see constant cEDH play, I highly doubt that it will remain a $1.50 card.
