The official previews for Strixhaven: School of Mages continue to roll out new Magic: The Gathering cards today, and today is Primari’s time to shine. The red and blue-aligned college is known for music and how they dance with the elements, and just like the four other colleges of the most elite university in the Magic Multiverse, Prismari is founded by an Elder Dragon the college is named after: Galazeth Prismari.

Over on Twitter, YouTuber Eric Rodriguez has shared our first look at Galazeth Prismari, one of five mythic rare Elder Dragons from Strixhaven: School of Mages.

Check out Galazeth Prismari and its borderless alternate-art version:

Here’s the English translation of Galazeth Prismari:

Galazeth Prismari – 2UR

Legendary Creature – Elder Dragon

Flying

When – enters the battlefield create a Treasure token.

Artifacts you control have “Tap: Add a mana of any color. Use this mana only to cast sorcery and instant spells”

3/4

It looks like the red and blue cards representing Prismari will focus on casting big sorceries and instants while finding ways to ramp up mana for those spells by producing Treasure tokens. For only four mana, Galazeth Prismari can be an integral part of that strategy. Being able to produce a Treasure token, and being able to tap it or any other artifact for mana that you can use to cast sorcery and instant spells, while providing a 3/4 Flying body on the field is great value overall.

When you think of mana ramp, you’d assume that you would need to have green cards in your deck to add cards like Growth Spiral or Explore, but it looks like Strixhaven is giving us more options to ramp up with other colors so we can play our bigger spells, and Primsari has tons of them, so make sure to check out our spoiler section if you haven’t seen them yet.

Do you think Galazeth Prismari will see a good amount of play in competitive Standard Constructed or any eternal Constructed formats? It’s obviously playable in Booster Draft, but I don’t see it as an overpowered bomb. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Strixhaven: School of Mages is set to release for tabletop on April 23, and it will be released on Magic: The Gathering Arena and Magic Online on April 15. Check out the important dates here.
