Wizards of the Coast hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming magic school-themed set, Strixhaven: School of Mages, but Magic head designer Mark Rosewater already has a lot of exciting things to say about it. Recently, he revealed that Strixhaven is Magic’s take on the magic school genre, and not just a “reskinning of any one version of it”, but Rosewater has more non-spoilery things to say about the new expansion.
Over on Twitter, Rosewater talked about how he’s proud of what he and his team of designers worked on in Strixhaven: School of Mages.
Although Rosewater didn’t reveal which plane the Strixhaven school is set in, the head designer said on his Blogatog that the set is innovative.
“Let me first say that there are different ways for a set to be innovative,” Rosewater said. “It could be new mechanics, new themes, new structures, new executions. That said, yes Strixhaven is pretty innovative.”
When asked about his favorite magical schools from literature or film, he said that Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters is his favorite. It’s cool to know that Rosewater is a fan of X-Men.
Sounds like there’s a lot of exciting things to look forward to in Strixhaven: School of Mages.
