Preorders are now available for Strixhaven Japanese Language Booster Boxes! The Japanese Version will be including a special version of Mystical Archive cards that are highly sought after and will likely sell for large premiums.
So far Magic: The Gathering has previewed 3 Mystical Archive cards from the Japanese Strixhaven booster packs. They are Opt, Demonic Tutor, and Swords to Plowshares. Wizards of the Coast has also told us, “Both the regular and Japanese versions of Mystical Archive cards will come in foil and, found only in Collector Boosters, the new foil-etched treatment.”
At least one Japanese variant from Mystical Archive will be included in Collector Boosters in all languages!
I have to say I’m incredibly excited to get my hands on these Japanese special art versions. They are some of the most beautiful MTG cards I have ever seen. I’ve actually gone and preordered a few boxes myself of the Japanese Edition. That’s something I rarely do for Standard sets (Ultimate Masters was the last set I bought a box from).
For those interested in Japanese Collector Booster Boxes, they are not currently available for sale to American customers on Amazon.
Strixhaven Japanese Booster Box Preorder
If you want to join in on the fun, you can pre-order the Japanese Booster Box from the official Magic: The Gathering store on Amazon. At present, the cost of the Japanese Booster Boxes are $122.18 plus local taxes.
That’s quite a big savings compared to prices I am seeing elsewhere. Some sites are selling these for as high as $200+.
A big shout out from me to Wizards of the Coast for offering up the Japanese Booster Boxes on Amazon so we don’t have to pay a premium to have these shipped from Japan! As much as I order from Amazon, supporting Local Game Stores is important too, so I hope all LGS can partake in the Japanese Booster Box sales in the US too.
