New MTG Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Potential Leaks Surface

Article at a Glance

While we thought that last week’s surprise preview card for Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty was going to be everything that Wizards of the Coast had planned for us until preview season kicks off, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Today over on Reddit, a few potential leaked cards surfaced. Today we’re going to look at these cards, and what they could mean for the set.

The Leaked Cards

Before we look at these cards, I want to preface everything with the following: THESE ARE NOT CONFIRMED CARDS. THESE CARDS COULD VERY WELL BE FAKE.

These cards showed up over on a Facebook page, but caught on over on the Reddit post. We have here a very strange smattering of cards. First is a green common called Jukai Trainee, which has the effect of Bushido without the keyword. Next up is an uncommon, which translates to Flame Discharge. The text here translates to as follows:

Deals X to target creature or planeswalker. If you control a modified creature, deal X plus 2 damage instead. (Creatures that are equipped, enchanted, or have counters are modified)

If this card is real, then that means “modified creatures” are a mechanic we can expect in the set. It makes sense though, since the “cyberpunk / sci-fi” theme lends itself to modifications being a thematic element.

The next card looks like a showcase frame card of Nezumi Prowler. We know that the Nezumi are going to be returning in the set and also that Ninjutsu is a returning mechanic.

The last card is a very interesting one. What we see is the backside of a dual faced card O-Kagachi Made Manifest. This is very similar to a card we saw from the first set of leaks a couple weeks ago. An enchantment creature that references one of the Dragons from Kamigawa. Where this gets interesting is the front side of that very card.

From what we see here, the front side of the card is actually a Saga! This one is titled The Kami War and is 5 colors. When we get to chapter 3, it transforms into the creature on the back.

Now there’s a very obvious few details here to talk about. First off the condition of these cards are tragic. Between all of the edge wear, and the crumpled up card, it’s almost like they’re stickers. A couple of the cards don’t have their corners cut, and one of the cards isn’t even in English.
