As you might expect from a product with chaos literally in its name, the MTG Chaos Vault is rather unpredictable. Not only can its drops offer some wild products at insane prices, but they can pop up out of the blue, too. Thankfully, Wizards is kind enough to give MTG players some grace to prepare, at least, but that warning isn’t always well in advance.
New Chaos Vault on Friday
In a new email sent out to players, Wizards has confirmed a new MTG Chaos Vault is coming this week. Releasing on Friday, June 17th, at 9 am PT, this drop is roughly aligned with MagicCon: Amsterdam’s Preview Panel. Technically, at the moment, the contents of this drop haven’t been confirmed; however, MTG players do have their theories.
Given the timing matches MagicCon: Amsterdam starting, players suspect this will be the release of the Spinner Rack Specials drop. Announced way back in June, this drop features cards from Marvel Super Heroes reimagined with a vintage comic-style treatment. Since this drop is available in person at MagicCon: Amsterdam, releasing it via Chaos Vault at the same time makes sense.
As if this didn’t make it seem likely enough, the link in the email all but guarantees it. Spotted by Copernicus1981 on Reddit, the link includes “campaign=cv-srs” which is presumably shorthand for Chaos Vault Spinner Rack Specials. Sadly, if this is the drop that we’re getting, it’s incredibly weak from a financial perspective.
In total, the raw reprint value of the Spinner Rack Specials drop is just $14.55 right now. Most of that is thanks to Tippy-Toe, Terrific Partner, which is a surprisingly rare Marvel Super Heroes Jumpstart card. Considering that ongoing Jumpstart delays are exacerbating supply issues, its current $10 price point is arguably overinflated right now.
While this low-value offering does make Spinner Rack Specials look like a dud, Chaos Vault could mix things up. We’ve seen Chaos Vault drops sell for much less than expected before, after all, so we’ll have to see what happens when it launches. Thankfully, we don’t have long to wait until that happens, at least, as Friday is right on the horizon.
