In today’s “Campus Tour” stream for Strixhaven: School of Mages previews, a brand new Magic: The Gathering card from the upcoming Modern Horizons 2 set has been revealed in the form of a Strixhaven Mystical Archive. The card is called Abundant Harvest, a one-to-cast Sorcery that lets you choose land or nonland, then you reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a card of the chosen kind. You put that card into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Check out Abundant Harvest:
Modern Horizons 2, the second straight-to-Modern set, won’t be officially released until June, so it’s interesting to see a new card teased in an earlier set months ahead. This is the only non-reprinted card in the Mystical Archives, separate set of cards similar to Kaladesh’s Masterpiece series, and it will be legal in both Modern format and MTG Arena’s Historic format. There will be a total of 63 Instant and Sorcery cards in the Mystical Archives, and the rest will be reprints of iconic spells from the past.
For one green mana, you can potentially dig for the right card from your library with Abundant Harvest, but I’m not sure what Modern deck archetypes will this card fit yet.
Do you think Abundant Harvest will be viable in both Modern and Historic formats? Let us know what you think in the comments section below.
