MTG Players Rediscover 60-Card Gummy Sweet "Deck"

Got your Ensouring Bridges for the sideboard?

Earlier this week, the MTG world was rocked to its core by the reveal of a new series of meaty snacks themed around some of the game’s factions. This led to a wider social media investigation into Wizards’ past efforts in the food crossover space, unearthing the forgotten MTG x Trolli collaboration product.

Regular readers will likely recall such legendary collaborations as the MTG Hot Pockets and the Arena rewards offered for eating at IHOP. All of these initiatives pale in comparison to this recently-rediscovered banger, however, which converts a full 60-card deck into gummy sweet form.

The MTG x Trolli Sour Seekers Crossover

MTG Trolli Crossover V2

This bizarre product, subtitled “Sour Seekers,” was uncovered by MTG players across social media over the last couple of days, with posts on X and videos on Facebook covering the subject. As you might expect, this came in response to Monday’s Mythical Meats announcement, which spurred players on to dig into Magic’s foodie past.

On investigation, it turns out the MTG x Trolli crossover took place in 2023, as part of Magic’s 30th anniversary celebrations. Given how much of a train wreck Magic 30 itself was, this may have actually been one of the better products tied to that milestone.

Essentially, the collab here was a limited-edition bag of 60 Trolli gummy sweets, intended to represent the 60 cards in a constructed Magic deck. There were 15 gummies in total here, with the ‘deck’ running ‘playsets’ of each. Each name was a Trolli-themed pun on a real card name, like Gauntlet of Sour for Gauntlet of Power Gauntlet of Power Gauntlet of Power As this artifact enters, choose a color.
Creatures of the chosen color get +1/+1.
Whenever a basic land is tapped for mana of the chosen color, its controller adds an additional one mana of that color.
.

Interestingly, the cards represented here form a reasonably coherent Tron deck when you decode Trolli’s punny names. You can check out the full translated decklist above for proof on that. While it’s certainly not a good Tron deck, with some truly bizarre inclusions like Voracious Greatshark Voracious Greatshark Voracious Greatshark Flash (You may cast this spell any time you could cast an instant.)
When this creature enters, counter target artifact or creature spell.
in the mix, it’s wild that it’s even a functional deck at all.

I say functional, but sadly the inclusion of four Sol Ring Sol Ring Sol Ring {T}: Add {C}{C}. s, here styled as “Peachie Sol Rings”, makes the deck illegal in all constructed formats. If you want to try running this bizarre collab deck, then you’ll need to switch those out for a card that isn’t restricted in Vintage. That said, for casual games, which this deck won’t be doing much beyond, a rule zero conversation should probably suffice to get this banger in the door.

Unlike the new Mythical Meats collaboration, which anyone can purchase, the MTG x Trolli crossover was a very limited affair. Information on its distribution is scarce, but it appears it was sent only to influencers, rather than sold in the traditional sense.

For this reason, you’re unlikely to be able to track this product down today if you’re looking for a Magic-themed snack. Instead, it simply stands as another interesting entry in the game’s colorful history, for true MTG scholars to chew over.
