Share

Released in March 2026, TMNT was the second set of the year overall. This set had a bit of a rough ride initially, with many players pushing back against its unusual aesthetics. Post-release, however, the set proved better than expected in terms of gameplay if nothing else. Here’s everything you need to know about TMNT, the most controversial MTG Universes Beyond expansion yet.

MTG TMNT Spoilers

MTG TMNT Spoilers

Like Spider-Man in 2025 and The Hobbit in 2026, TMNT is a small Universes Beyond set, with just 190 cards in total. Though fairly underpowered on the whole, the set does contain some particularly powerful cards, including a terrifying multi-format combo enabler.

We’ve written individual articles on the best cards in TMNT in various categories, be they the most powerful options in the set or the most expensive. If a card in this set is worth knowing about, you’ll find it here.

MTG TMNT Card Treatments

MTG TMNT Card Treatments

As you’d expect from a new MTG set in 2026, TMNT is packed with alternative card treatments to collect. The big hitters here are the four Headliner Turtle cards, each featuring unique artwork and a signature from TMNT legend Kevin Eastman. These cards are only found in Collector Boosters at an incredibly low rate, but aren’t serialized.

TMNT also has two more Collector Booster-exclusive treatments in its Borderless Pixel and Japan Showcase cards. 15 cards in total get the Borderless Pixel treatment, all of which hail from the TMNT Commander precon. These appear exclusively in Surge Foil, at a 1.9% rate in Collector Boosters.

As for the Japan Showcase, these are handled similarly here to their past appearances in different sets. For TMNT, you have a 9% chance of opening one in Traditional Foil in your Collector Booster, and a 1% chance of cracking one in Fracture Foil.

Not all the TMNT treatments are reserved for Collector Boosters, however, as you can find both the Borderless Silhouette and Showcase Sewer Frame cards in Play Boosters, too. These treatments appear on a wide range of cards, and at fairly reasonable drop rates in packs.

MTG TMNT Commander Deck

MTG TMNT Commander Deck

For TMNT, Wizards released just a single Commander precon deck, titled Turtle Power! This five-color deck featured all four turtles and Master Splinter as potential Partner Commanders, making it hugely flexible from the off. It also included a lot more brand-new cards than most precons, and has proved to be one of the better 2026 precons so far overall.

MTG TMNT Mechanics

MTG TMNT Mechanics

As with most new MTG sets, TMNT includes a handful of new mechanics to keep things interesting. In addition to the returning Class and Alliance mechanics, which reprise their roles from Blomburrow and Streets of New Capenna, respectively, three brand-new mechanics make their debut in this set.

  • Sneak: This is a new take on Ninjutsu, which lets you return an unblocked attacker to your hand to cast a card for its Sneak cost. As with Ninjutsu, creatures cast this way enter tapped and attacking, though unlike Ninjutsu, this mechanic can be found on non-creature spells too.
  • Disappear: Disappear is a new ability word that provides you with benefits when permanents leave the battlefield under your control in a given turn.
  • Mutagen Tokens: Several cards in TMNT create Mutagen tokens, which are set ability tokens in the vein of Clues and Treasure. Mutagens are colorless artifacts with the ability “1, Tap, Sacrifice this token. Put a +1/+1 counter on target creature. Activate only as a sorcery.”

MTG TMNT Products

Turtle-Team Up Bundle

For the most part, TMNT is a fairly standard MTG set in terms of its product offerings. You’ve got the usual Bundle and premium Bundle, called the Pizza Bundle in this case, as well as a Draft Night product and the Commander precon.

One notable member of the TMNT lineup is the Turtle Team-Up product, which is a unique co-operative experience designed almost like a board game. This product has a number of exclusive cards, too, some of which are fairly handy in Commander. The following are the MSRPs for every product in the TMNT range, Turtle Team-Up included:
