Thanks to Magic: The Gathering’s jam-packed release schedule, delays have become rather commonplace. While this is extremely frustrating for players, the delays are generally limited to supplementary products such as Jumpstart or Collector Boosters. Sadly, for The Hobbit, it appears that Play Boosters are being impacted, potentially limiting how much the set can be played.
MTG The Hobbit Play Booster Delay
Despite officially releasing on August 14th, some MTG players won’t receive their Play Booster boxes until “early September”. According to a statement from Star City Games, The Hobbit Play Booster Boxes will be delayed for certain distributors in the United States.
Needless to say, MTG players aren’t happy to hear about this. Given the speed of releases, there are concerns that everyone will have already moved on to the next set before any of this product ships. With how fast Magic’s release schedule is currently moving, these boxes may not ship until Reality Fracture spoiler season is well underway.
The good news, at least, is that this is a distributor-specific delay, meaning that only some parts of the United States will be unaffected. At the time of writing, however, Wizards has not announced which distributors have been impacted. Thanks to this, we have no choice but to wait and see how these Hobbit delays shake out. Hopefully, the delay will only impact a small area, but it could be much worse.
