Duskmourn has been fully spoiled, and it is painfully clear that there is a big enchantment theme coming in MTG’s latest set. Considering that prerelease events for this spooky set are next weekend, players are getting ready to add the new Duskmourn cards to their enchantress Commander decks.
Because there’s so much enchantment support in Duskmourn, powerful enchantment win conditions have been going up in price. Opalescence, for example, has already seen a major price increase recently. Considering this, seeing Starfield of Nyx’s price increase shouldn’t be too surprising.
Starfield of Nyx
- Mana Value: 4W
- Rarity: Mythic Rare
- Card Type: Enchantment
- MTG Sets: Magic Origins, Commander Masters
- Card Text: At the beginning of your upkeep, you may return target enchantment card from your graveyard to the battlefield. As long as you control five or more enchantments, each other non-Aura enchantment you control is a creature in addition to its other types and has base power and toughness each equal to its mana value.
Over the past few weeks, Starfield of Nyx has increased from $2 to about $4 for the card’s non-foil variant. There has been a sale for as high as $8, for the Magic Origins variant of this card, however, that seems to be an outlier. The price of variants from Commander Masters seems to be about the same.
Foils are a different story as their price spike is significantly more dramatic. Since the Commander Masters printing didn’t include foil copies, the only foils you can get are from Magic Origins. This means they’re rather scarce and typically sell for $12 as a result. Recently, however, the foil price of Starfield of Nyx has jumped up to around $18-$19! Some sales have even peaked as high as $22 recently.
The price spike shouldn’t be surprising. Starfield of Nyx reanimation effect is a boon to enchantment decks everywhere. Not only does it generate tons of value, but it’s Opalescence with a pretty easy condition attached! Since controlling five or more enchantments per turn is basically nothing for an Enchantress deck, it’s no wonder Starfield of Nyx is spiking.

Between the new Eerie mechanic, multiple enchantment cards (some doubling as creatures), and the new Room enchantment type, Duskmourn is an incredible asset for MTG players who love enchantment strategies. If some new cards in this set have inspired you to build an enchantment-focused Commander deck, pick up your pieces as soon as possible. You are not the only one thinking about doing this, and the increase in demand for enchantment cards is going to drive prices up.
