Marvel Super Heroes is one heck of a set for Commander players. In addition to what the four new precons bring to the table, the main set has a record-setting number of legends to pick from. Some, like The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in particular, have players very excited, and the hype is causing shifts in the financial market.
MTG Scurry of Squirrels

Printed originally in the Squirreled Away precon in Bloomburrow, Scurry of Squirrels does a great job creating a wide board of attackers. Naturally, since this card creates Squirrel tokens, it works wonders with The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl. At the very least, this gives you up to seven bodies that can be used to make more tokens with her second ability.
Beyond this, however, just dealing damage with Scurry of Squirrels will also let you buff your board. Whether you’re spreading the love or making one super tough critter, getting up to seven counters per swing isn’t bad at all. With this in mind, it’s no wonder that this card is an auto-include within The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl decks, already appearing in 72% of lists on EDHREC.
As much as The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl has increased demand, Scurry of Squirrels was already a pretty popular MTG card to begin with. Appearing in over 35,000 decks overall now, there’s always been steady demand from Chatterfang and even Samut. Despite being a common appearance in these decks, however, the new boost in Squirrel Typal appeal has pushed prices up significantly.
The Spike

Despite seeing play in a variety of Commander decks, Scurry of Squirrels has never been super expensive. This is thanks to it being a fairly niche card, all things considered, as 35,000 decks hardly make a squirrel a staple. Due to this, copies of Scurry of Squirrels could be picked up for just $0.31 back in mid-May.
Following the reveal of The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl in early June, however, prices spiked dramatically. In just three days, a whopping 1,266 near-mint traditional copies sold. This massive demand increase caused supply to drop, leaving only 41 near-mint listings available. The lowest of the bunch is at $1.22, showcasing a 294% price spike.
Notably, there aren’t any better deals at worse conditions, either. Extended art copies found in Collector Boosters have also risen in price and are now selling for $2.69.
Moving Forward
For better or worse, it’s rather difficult to tell where Scurry of Squirrels might end up financially. While Squirrel Typal is hardly the most popular archetype in Commander, it is uniquely beloved by MTG players. Due to this, this card and The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl could easily remain relevant for longer than expected.
Not only would this keep prices higher for longer, but reprinting Scurry of Squirrels could be somewhat difficult. While nothing is technically off limits for bonus sheets, we’re unlikely to get a new Squirrel Typal precon anytime soon. In theory, this could mean the price of Scurry of Squirrels will only continue to climb, but banking on no reprints is always risky.
Ultimately, while interest is high in Squirrel Typal and Scurry of Squirrels right now, it’s unlikely to last forever. Even as a beloved archetype, it won’t always be the hot new thing, so expect demand to fade before too long. Given we’re still getting three more MTG sets in 2026 after Marvel Super Heroes, however, interests could shift sooner, rather than later.
