It may be a long way away, but we know a surprisingly large amount about the 2026 MTG release calendar. This is thanks to an unprecedented mega reveal at Gen Con back in 2023. Here, Wizards laid out the future plans for Magic: The Gathering, and it’s safe to say the future looks bright.
Unsurprisingly, Wizards is yet to release details about every single MTG set release in 2026. We likely won’t know more until sometime in 2025, much closer to the release of these sets. Despite this, there’s still a lot to talk about and get excited about today. So, without any further ado, here’s the current 2026 MTG release calendar.
MTG 2026 Release Calendar
Currently, Wizards of the Coast has only released partial details about two of the MTG sets being released in 2026. Names for these sets have not yet been revealed, so we’re just working with codenames for now. On top of the sets Wizards spoke about at Gen Con, the remaining codenames for the 2026 premier sets have also been revealed. Sadly, the below dates are only vague release windows for now.
- Yachting (Arcavios Set) | Q1 2026
- Ziplining (Capstone Set) | Q2 2026
- Amsterdam | Q3 2026
- Berlin | Q4 2026
On top of the quartet of premier sets expected to launch in 2026, there will also be a number of supplemental sets. It has already been confirmed that two major Universes Beyond sets will be released sometime in 2026. On top of these major releases, there’s also a good chance we’ll see a Remastered set, at the start of the year. Sadly, no dates or details about these products are available at the moment.
Yachting – Back to School on Arcavios
Release Date: Q1 2026
In the first Standard-legal premier set of 2026, MTG is going back to Strixhaven on Arcavios. Releasing sometime in Q1, it is expected Yachting will launch in February. This would follow the past precedent set by recent Q1 premier sets.
Sadly, very few details about Yachting have been released publicly. Since Yachting is the second-to-last set in the three-year Metronome story arc, however, there’s bound to be a lot going on. Hopefully, the set will explore all the curious mysteries that were alluded to in the original Strixhaven set.
While very little information has been announced about Yachting and the return to Arcavios, it’s nonetheless very exciting. Once more details are revealed, we’ll update this article with more information.
Ziplining – The Capstone Set
Release Date: Q2 2026
Planned to release in Q2 of 2026, likely around April, Ziplining is the Capstone set for the Metronome story arc. This means the set will be a massive blockbuster, comparable to March of the Machine. With the fate of the multiverse hanging in the balance, this set is bound to have huge and far-reaching consequences. Sadly, that’s just about all we know about it.
Unlike the other sets revealed during Gen Con in 2023, there’s no word on where Ziplining is set. There has also been no word on which characters will appear, or who the set’s villains will be. That being said, it looks like Jace, Loot, and Vraska will each play a part in this dramatic finale.
Sadly, due to the climactic nature of this set, details are likely going to be kept under wraps for a while. There’s a good chance we won’t know what we’re really in for until after Yachting has been released.
Amsterdam – The Codename Is All We’ve Got
Release Date: Q3 2026
Sadly, very little information is known about the MTG set codenamed Amsterdam. Given it’s the next premier set, we can expect it to be released in Q3, likely around early August. Even this hasn’t been officially confirmed, however, as Wizards hasn’t announced anything about this set.
The only way we know that Amsterdam even exists is thanks to MTG’s Head Designer, Mark Rosewater. Speaking on Blogatog, Rosewater revealed the codename of this set alongside the next codename theme. For the next six and a half years, MTG set codenames will be based on “cities of the world.”
Outside of the codename, no details have been announced about this MTG set. As a note, the codename of Amsterdam has nothing to do with the set’s contents. Since MTG appears to be going toward a multiversal reset, this set could literally be anything.
Berlin – Another Curious Codename
Release Date: Q4 2026
Just like Amsterdam, the codename for Berlin is all that we know about the final premier set of 2026. Technically, we can presume it will be released sometime in Q4, however, even this is unclear. In 2024, Wizards shuffled around the release calendar so much that Duskmourn: House of Horror was pushed into late Q3. Depending on what happens in 2025, this may become the norm.
Without any word from Wizards, Berlin could launch anytime between late September and early November. There’s also no telling what this set will be about, where it’ll be set, or which characters it will feature. We’ll just have to sit tight and wait a good long while for more information to be released.
Universes Beyond and Beyond
On top of all the premier sets releasing in 2024, Wizards is also expected to release two tentpole Universes Beyond sets. While we have been told these sets are planned, there’s no information about either of these crossovers. In theory, one of them may be another Universes Beyond Marvel set, however, this is unconfirmed.
Alongside there being no details about these set’s themes, there’s also no word on when they will be released. Once we know the full release schedule for 2025, hopefully, the 2026 calendar should become clearer too.
As if two Universes Beyond sets with all the trimmings weren’t enough, there may even be additional supplemental sets in 2026. One of these is likely to be a Remastered set, which is typically launched in January. While a new remastered set is expected to continue the three-year-old tradition, nothing has been confirmed yet.
Ultimately, there’s bound to be a lot more than just premier sets to look forward to in 2026. While details are sparse right now, once more information is announced we’ll update this release calendar accordingly. For now, there are plenty more MTG sets to enjoy and look forward to in the meantime.
