Multiple players have reported instances of opening these full-art cards in Baldur’s Gate Collector Boosters. The most shocking find of all was found, according to Reddit user u/hillean, when a “local LGS was cracking pack to fulfill online orders.”
Wrenn and Six are one of the premier chase cards to be found in Double Masters 2022. It is at the core of Modern’s most powerful strategies and is most players’ candidate for the next card to be banned. The featured card is a Full Art Textured Foil. This is a new type of foiling being introduced in Double Masters 2022. This type of foiling is something we’ve never seen before in the game of MTG, and it looks remarkable.Twitter user @LegitMTG showed this home run off on only June 14, long before the release of Double Masters 2022. Kozilek, Butcher of Truth is a fan-favorite win condition in Commander. This card is splashy, refills your hand, and cleans up fast. The art is a horrific new take on the Eldrazi Titan, capturing the horror it displays in MTG lore.
Not Everything is Exciting
@SCCGamingCards showcases some other Double Masters 2022 finds from Baldur’s Gate Collector Boosters. These are significantly worse hits than what’s showcased above and show the not-so-great side of this accident. Getting a Wrenn and Six is an absolute jackpot, but a Simic Growth Chamber? Depending on what slot these are showing up in the Baldur’s Gate Collector Boosters, I would rather have a Baldur’s Gate card.
How is this Affecting Your Collector Boosters?
This is happening at an expected enough rate that there are multiple sources for people opening affected Baldur’s Gate packs. A Youtube video from napkincatch highlights a box opening that had the 7th slot in each Collector Booster feature an Uncommon Full Art card from Double Masters 2022. This video suggests that Double Masters Baldur’s Gate glitch seems to be consistent through a case of Collector Boosters.
Youtuber Cards with Michael showed off another Double Masters Baldur’s Gate Collector Booster. In this instance, all of the Double Masters 2022 cards were foil full-art Uncommon cards featured in the slot after the basic foil land. This video also suggests that the Double Masters 2022 glitch is case wide. This particular glitch seems to be the most common among Collector Boosters.
From these examples and many others that follow similar trends, it’s safe to say that having Double Masters 2022 cards are almost always better than not having them in your Baldur’s Gate Collector Boosters. Even if the cards you’re getting are only full-art Uncommons, they aren’t replacing more valuable slots in your Collector Booster pack.
The Actual Product is Being Delayed
With Wizards recently announcing Collector Booster Delays for the release of Double Masters 2022, one can only wonder if this mix-up is part of the reason why. Baldur’s Gate has not been the most exciting product because of how poorly it squared up to its predecessor. Ironically, this glitch gives a bit more thrill when opening Collector Boosters. I hope more cool glitches like this happen with expensive MTG products. It gives players something to search for.
