MTG Modern Horizons 3 Spoilers, Cards, Leaks

Share
Article at a Glance

After countless leaks, and plenty of officially sanctioned reveals too, the Modern Horizons 3 spoiler season is finally over. At long last, every single card in the main set has been revealed for players to admire. All that’s left is a single Commander deck, which is being previewed later today.

Before Modern Horizons 3’s spoiler season officially started, there were major concerns about this set’s power level. Unfortunately, now that every card has been revealed, it’s evident that these concerns have very much been realized. For better or worse, Modern Horizons 3 is loaded with powerful new cards and devastating new-to-Modern reprints.

Due to the power of the new and reprinted cards, Modern Horizons 3 will undoubtedly have an impact on multiple formats. As a result, it’s worthwhile knowing everything the set has to offer. Thankfully, we’re here to help as in this article we’ve got every single card in Modern Horizons 3!

Modern Horizons 3 Mythic Spoilers

Modern Horizons 3 Mythics

In somewhat of a theme for Modern Horizons 3, the new mythic Eldrazi cards steal the show. Offering devastating, often game-ending, abilities, these cards are expensive but well worth their cost. That being said, as powerful as Emrakul, the World Anew is, they may not see play in Modern.

Thankfully, the same fate should not befall the cycle of double-faced “Flip Walkers” in Modern Horizons 3. While they’re not all powerhouse staples, Grist, Voracious Larva easily has multiformat potential. Even if these cards miraculously don’t see play in Modern, they should all be fantastic in Commander.

Last but not least, Modern Horizons 3 also has plenty of new cards that are throwbacks to staples and forgotten classics. Eladamri, Korvecdal, for instance, hasn’t been seen in over 26 years! More recently, Modern Horizons 3 also pays homage to Tarmogoyf with the new Nethergoyf.

All in all, as you may expect, each of the 24 mythic cards in Modern Horizons 3 is supremely powerful. If you see one of these cards in a pack, or when playing Limited, you’ll definitely be in for a good time. So long as it’s not being played against you, that is.

Modern Horizons 3 Rare Spoilers

Modern Horizons 3 Rares

Out of all the rare Modern Horizon 3 spoilers we’ve seen, few are as scary as the new Flare cards. Offering potent effects for free, so long as you sacrifice a non-token creature of the appropriate color, these cards have format-warping potential. This is especially true of Flare of Denial which may become a staple multiformat Counterspell.

On top of these fantastic reprints, Modern Horizons 3 also has plenty of rare new-to-Modern reprints too. Much like the mythic rarity reprints we mentioned before, these new-to-Modern cards are adorned with a watermark from their original set. Hopefully, this should make keeping track of these now Modern legal reprints easier than usual.

Modern Horizons 3 Uncommon Spoilers

Modern Horizons 3 Uncommons

Thanks to the introduction of Play Boosters, uncommon cards are almost the most plentiful in the entire set. In total, 101 uncommon cards can be found in Modern Horizons 3 packs. Since so few of these cards have been officially spoiled, so far, it’s difficult to discern cycles and trends right now.

That being said, a trend throughout all of Modern Horizons 3 is Eldrazi cards. Thanks to this, multiple Eldrazi-themed uncommon cards have been revealed. Several of these cards utilize the Devoid mechanic from Battle for Zendikar, so they’re not all completely colorless. Despite this mechanic opening up the design space not every uncommon Modern Horizons 3 card is Eldrazi themed.

Thankfully, while Eldrazi cards are a big theme through Modern Horizons 3, it’s not exclusively an Eldrazi set. Alongside the Devoid cards and spaghetti monsters there are plenty of normal cards too. Saying these cards are normal, however, may be an injustice, as there’s plenty of flavor, power, and niche references to delight players.

Modern Horizons 3 Common Spoilers

Modern Horizons 3 Commons

In total, Wizards has confirmed there will be 80 unique common cards appearing in Modern Horizons 3. While these cards may not be the most attention-grabbing, there’s still a lot to get excited about. If you’re a pauper player, Modern Horizons sets can be a godsend for new power and downshifts to spice the format up.

For better or worse, Modern Horizons 3 has some serious bombs at the common level. One of these cards is so powerful, in fact, that it’ll likely be banned in Pauper shortly after release. While MTG Designer Gavin Verhey has confirmed this will be happening, it’s unclear exactly which card is the problem. Currently, the lead suspect is Cranial Ram.

Outside of this potentially bannable card, there are a lot of interesting Modern Horizons 3 commons. Many of these may come as quite a surprise, as they were dumped en masse on the final day of spoiler season. While few of these commons are destined to see much, if any, Modern play, they’ll nonetheless be interesting Commander additions.

Modern Horizons 3 Reprints

Modern Horizons 3 Reprints

As we’ve mentioned throughout this article already, Modern Horizons 3 features a multitude of reprints. Found at various rarities, these reprints are great news for fiance fans and Modern players alike. Not only will these reprints bring prices down, but they also introduce new cards to Modern.

Throughout Modern Horizons 3, a major theme is making once Commander-exclusive cards Modern playable. This is the case for cards like Kappa Cannoneer which was first printed in Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty Commander. Alongside these reprints, many already Modern-Legal cards, such as the Fetch Lands, are being reprinted too.
