Wizards Quietly Changes Upcoming Ban Announcement Date

Share

Marvel Super Heroes has only been playable for a few days, but we’re already talking about bans. Thanks to some unusual scheduling, the next banned and restricted announcement is a week away, which feels remarkably soon. That being said, while this might be one of the fastest ban windows we’ve ever seen, it may actually be coming at the perfect time.

Speaking of time, it appears the date of this MTG ban announcement has been changed at the last minute. As if this wasn’t unusual enough, this is actually the second time Wizards have had to adjust this date. Curiously, this time around, there’s been no formal announcement about it, either, but it definitely won’t be one to miss.

New MTG Bans On June 29th

Hawkeye's Bow MTG

Originally, when Wizards of the Coast first announced the 2026 ban calendar, the June bans were scheduled for June 3rd. As it turns out, however, this original date was actually a typo that shouldn’t have been published. To rectify this, Wizards made a big show of re-announcing that bans would take place on June 30th.

Considering this is a Tuesday, and bans typically take place on a Monday, this re-announcement did feel somewhat unusual. Still, if anyone was going to know when Wizards was going to announce new bans, it’s Wizards. That being said, it appears even Wizards wasn’t entirely sure, as now the ban announcement date has been changed again.

Today, if you look at the latest banned and restricted announcement, the next bans are scheduled for June 29th. As a Monday, next Monday in fact, this realigns the ban announcement with tradition, at long last. Hopefully, the upcoming ban window won’t be changed again at the last last minute, but that remains to be seen.

Bring On the Bans

MTG The Fantasticar

For now, we can only wait until the next MTG ban window rolls around to see what’s going to happen. That being said, we can already expect two cards to be touched upon, if not banned or restricted outright. With Hawkeye’s Bow causing concern in Pauper, and The Fantasticar looking fearful in Vintage, there’s definitely plenty to talk about.

Ultimately, it remains to be seen exactly what will be banned on June 29th, but thankfully, we don’t have long to wait. As always, the bans should be announced promptly at 11 am EST, and we’ll be sure to cover everything as soon as it happens.
