Breaking sales records with preorders alone, Magic: The Gathering’s Final Fantasy crossover was the most successful set in the game’s 33-year-long history. With tons of interesting and powerful new cards, the set was a treat for MTG players and Final Fantasy fans alike, but Wizards hasn’t stopped there.
As new Final Fantasy games have been released, Wizards has dropped new promos, keeping this set alive. Now, with Final Fantasy VII: Revelation releasing in April 2027, it seems MTG players have yet another Final Fantasy promo to collect.

is an extremely flavorful reprint for Final Fantasy VII: Revelation. The card is quite powerful in Commander, too, as it’s one of the few instant-speed board wipes in all of MTG. You can even turn off the abilities of all creatures before the wipe, stopping problematic death triggers from the likes of

When this creature dies, you may exile it. If you do, search your library for a planeswalker card, put it onto the battlefield, then shuffle.
.
While this gives Final Showdown a fantastic base to work with, its versatility is what really allows it to shine. Whether you want to protect your Commander for two mana, or kill a bunch of Urza Construct tokens by taking their abilities away, Final Showdown is a lot more than just a board wipe. Because of this, the instant sees play in over 71,000 decks, according to EDHREC, despite being a relatively recent release.
While this makes Final Showdown a great functional reprint for Commander players, its reprint value isn’t too exciting. Available for $3 after getting reprinted in Marvel Superheroes, getting another reprint of Final Showdown isn’t exactly what MTG players are clamoring for. Still, for those who want a complete collection of MTG’s Final Fantasy crossover, you can find this promo in the PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and Xbox boxes.
