MTG Duskmourn Demon Typal Mana Generator Sees 809% Price Increase

Seance Board is seeing a lot of attention currently. The card, found in the everpopular Endless Punishment Commander Precon, is a great asset to Demon-Typal decks. Considering that particular creature type saw a ton of Duskmourn support, it’s not too shocking. Seance Board is capable of producing a serious mana advantage. Since the best fast mana was banned recently, this card could be more powerful than ever.

Seance Board

Seance Board
  • Mana Value: 2
  • Rarity: Rare
  • Card Type: Artifact
  • MTG Sets: Duskmourn Commander
  • Card Text: Morbid – At the beginning of each end step, if a creature died this turn, put a soul counter on This card.
(tap): Add X mana of any one color, where X is the number of soul counters on This card. Spend this mana only to cast instant, sorcery, Demon and Spirit spells.

Seance Board isn’t a difficult mana rock to endorse, as long as you can spend the mana it provides. All you really need for this card to be worth its mana investment is have one creature die. If two creatures die, Seance Board turns into a mana machine. Three mana, and this is one of the best mana sources in the game.

While Seance Board has the potential to create four mana on your next turn, this is an incredibly difficult thing to achieve. In reality, not only do you need to be able to use the mana created by Seance Board, but you also need to be killing creatures consistently enough to trigger the card. Fortunately, killing creatures is commonly a part of many different Commander decks, so the card should be able to trigger from opposing gameplans, too.

The Spike

Thanks to incredible mana potential, as well as being worthwhile if even just one creature dies, Seance Board is seeing a big uptick in price this week. The card has spiked from less than a dollar to about $8 in a little over a week’s time.

Notably, the extended art Seance Board isn’t going for quite as much as the normal copy right now, but that variant is also spiking. It will likely catch up shortly, but for the time being, sales on that variant are all over the place.

Considering that Seance Board can also be used to cast instants and sorceries, the card has more applications than it may appear. Of course, Demon and Spirit Typal decks will be flocking towards Seance Board, but any spellslinger decks could also find good use in it. Seance Board can generate a ton of mana out of the blue, and for just two mana, the card is an insane investment.
