Ever since The Soul Stone appeared in Magic: The Gathering’s Spider-Man, players started questioning if the other Infinity Stones were on their way. Arguably one of the most iconic elements of the Marvel franchise, the Infinity Stones have the potential to capture incredibly powerful effects, and generate a ton of hype.
We haven’t seen any of the other Infinity Stones yet, and, as was unveiled at PAX West this weekend, it doesn’t look like we will be for quite some time. While we’re not sure how long it will take until the next Infinity Stone appears in Magic: The Gathering, we do know that they’re coming.
All MTG Infinity Stones Confirmed
The MTG Spider-Man spoiler season kickoff panel at PAX West looked at a ton of new things, but we also revisited some cards we’ve seen before. The Soul Stone, one of the most exciting spoilers so far, made a repeat appearance, and with it, some shocking statements were made.
Thanks to a statement made by MTG designer Blake Rasmussen, we now have confirmation that The Soul Stone is the only Infinity Stone that will be appearing in MTG Spider-Man. This isn’t particularly shocking on its own, as it doesn’t make the most sense for all the Infinity Stones to appear in the same set. What turns this statement on its head was Mark Rosewater’s following statement, reassuring players that “before we are done, we will do all of the Infinity Stones.“
This brings an interesting question: where on earth will these Infinity Stones be appearing? We know that Magic and Marvel’s crossover deal is multi-year. This suggests that more tentpole sets will appear, with more Infinity Stones, in the future. None of 2026’s crossover sets have been announced yet, but there’s the expectation that one of those sets will be Marvel.
Infinity Stones could also appear in Secret Lair drops. They would be strong inclusions as mechanically unique cards in any Secret Lair, though it might leave a bad taste in players’ mouths. The bad ending, so to speak, would be if these cards were mechanically unique randomized Bonus Sheet cards, but that has never been done before, and would therefore be extremely unlikely.
An Infinity Stone or two could also appear in upcoming Marvel Commander Precons, something that we should be getting according to past statements made by Mark Rosewater. This would also allow Wizards of the Coast to put a truly powerful effect on one of the Infinity Stones since they wouldn’t have to worry about Standard legality.
What many players originally speculated when hearing this was that there would be a lot more Marvel crossovers than players expect.
Potential for Five More MTG Marvel Sets
In total, there are six Infinity Stones: Soul, which we’ve already seen, Reality, Mind, Space, Power, and Time. If we only see one Infinity Stone per Marvel set, that could mean that we have five more MTG Marvel crossover sets, but there’s no way to know this for certain.
All of that said, there’s never been any confirmation that Infinity Stones would be limited to one per set. While this would make a lot of sense, multiple Infinity Stones could technically appear in the same place. If there’s a Marvel set based on Thanos as a villain, there’s a rather good chance that multiple Infinity Stones could appear there, in particular.
My hope is that we see some sets about a more generalized group than one hero. A set on the X-Men, and a set on The Avengers, for example, would be really interesting to explore. That said, one could easily do full sets in Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and all of the most iconic super heroes Marvel has to offer.
All of the Infinity Stones coming to MTG suggests that the Marvel crossover might be bigger than we initially imagined. The idea of actually assembling The Infinity Gauntlet in MTG would have been unheard of a few years ago. Now, it looks like players may be able to literally pull of a Thanos Snap in a game of Commander.
