We talked recently about Fortune Teller’s Talent, a new MTG Bloomburrow Class enchantment that is not found in the main set. The card is rather versatile, which piqued a lot of Commander players’ interest. As a result, demand caused this card’s price to spike hard, much faster than expected. That’s what happens when a card can only be found in Commander precons, not even in Collector Boosters.
As if one spiking class card wasn’t enough, a series of these MTG cards are jumping up in value. Between Standard, Pioneer, and Commander, these cards are putting in real work, so it’s little wonder they’re on the up!
Scavenger’s Talent
- Mana Value: B
- Rarity: Rare
- MTG Set: Bloomburrow
- Card Type: Enchantment – Class
- Card Text: Whenever one or more creatures you control die, create a Food token. This ability triggers only once each turn. Level 2 (1B): Wheenver you sacrifice a permanent, target player mills two cards. Level 3 (2B): At the beginning of your end step, you may sacrifice three other nonland permanents. If you do, return a creature card from your graveyard to the battlefield with a finality counter on it.
Remember how we talked about an infinite combo with Cauldron Familiar, and Ygra, Eater of All? Well, it appears that this deck may be the real deal in the Pioneer format, and Scavenger’s Talent is the card needed to fit everything together.
In Pioneer Scavenger’s Talent pairs very well with Cauldron’s Familiar and Witch’s Oven. Not only will this create extra Food for your Cats to sacrifice, but you also get to mill two cards in the process. Mill your way to Ygra, Eater of All, and use Scavenger’s Talent’s level three ability to reanimate it. You should win as soon as you have Ygra in play and two Cauldron Familiars between your battlefield and the yard. Considering how much you can mill to find the cards you need, this should be a surprisingly easy task.
Scavenger’s Talent, which was retailing for just 58 cents earlier this month, now retails for about $4. That’s a 589% increase!
Caretaker’s Talent
- Mana value: 2W
- Rarity: Rare
- MTG Set: Bloomburrow
- Card Type: Enchantment – Class
- Card Text: Whenever one or more tokens you control enter, draw a card. This ability triggers only once each turn. Level 2 (W): When this Class becomes level 2, create a token that’s a copy of target token you control. Level 3 (3W): Creature tokens you control get +2/+2.
Caretaker’s Talent does its best work alongside decks that create a ton of tokens. If you can manage to create a token each turn in a game of Commander, Caretaker’s Talent can draw four cards per turn cycle! This seems absolutely disgusting alongside a card like Smothering Tithe.
It’s rather easy to abuse the secondary level of Caretaker’s Talent as well. You only want this card if you’re creating a lot of tokens, so there should be something to copy. This ability only costs one mana too, so there’s little reason not to do this one it’s in play. It also gets you one step closer to the level 3 anthem which is fantastic for token-based decks.
All in all, since the beginning of the month, Caretaker’s Talent has risen in price from about $1 to about $9. That’s an 800% increase!
Fortune Teller’s Talent Update
- Mana Value: U
- Rarity: Rare
- MTG Set: Bloomburrow Commander
- Card Type: Enchantment – Class
- Card Text: You may look at the top card of your library at any time. Level 2 (3U): As long as you’ve cast a spell this turn, you may play cards from the top of your library. Level 3 (2U): Spells you cast from anywhere other than your hand cost (2) less to be cast.
Fortune Teller’s Talent’s price spike was far from over. From the beginning of the month, just costing $1, the card has risen to over $7 in price! Not only that, but there are multiple TCGplayer orders buying dozens of this card at a time. This means that speculators believe that this card could rise even further in price.
Otherwise, Gourmand’s Talent is also seeing a price increase, but it’s not as explosive as the other MTG Class cards appearing in this article. The card synergizes well in any Food or lifegain decks that can reliably gain life each turn in a Commander turn cycle. Like Fortune Teller’s Talent, Gourmand’s Talent is Commander legal.
At this rate, it looks like almost all of the rarer MTG Class cards from Bloomburrow are going to be worth something. Innkeeper’s Talent remains ahead of the rest, but I wouldn’t be surprised if we see multiple MTG Class cards on a future iteration of the most expensive Bloomburrow cards list.
