Duskmourn spoiler season has finally concluded, and there are a ton of powerful cards available, especially for Commander. From amazing combo engines to elite ways to cheat huge bombs into play on the cheap, this set is sure to bring some spice to your EDH playgroup.
Today, we set out to try and rank the best cards for Commander that the set has to offer. Cutting down to a top five isn’t easy, but we feel like all of the cards below deserve recognition. For this list, we will be including cards both from the main set and from the Commander Precons. However, we will not be including reprints, since we already know what they’re capable of.
Now, without further ado, here are the MTG best Duskmourn Commander cards.
#5 | Mirror Room/Fractured Realm
- Mana Value: 2U/5UU
- Rarity: Mythic Rare
- MTG Sets: Duskmourn
- Card Text: (You may cast either half. That door unlocks on the battlefield. As a sorcery, you may pay the mana cost of a locked door to unlock it.) Mirror Room: When you unlock this door, create a token that’s a copy of target creature you control, except it’s a Reflection in addition to its other types. Fractured Realm: If a triggered ability of a permanent you control triggers, that ability triggers an additional time.
Coming in at number five, we have Mirror Room and Fractured Realm. This card is a bit inefficient, which is why we didn’t end up ranking it higher. However, the sheer power of Fractured Realm if you can start generating value off of it is very high.
Panharmonicon has been an EDH staple for quite some time. Decks built around enters-the-battlefield triggers often want as many doubling effects as possible. Well, Fractured Realm doubles more than just enters-the-battlefield triggers. Any triggered abilities you get from attacking, creatures dying, and beyond all get doubled, which can have a massive effect on the game.
Plus, this card has the added bonus of the Mirror Room half. So, if you’re stuck on mana, you can always play this Room for three mana, get your small reward, and unlock Fractured Realm later. This mix of flexibility and raw power is very appealing, so the card earns the fifth spot on the list.

#4 | Marvin, Murderous Mimic
- Mana Value: 2
- Rarity: Rare
- Stats: 2/2
- MTG Sets: Duskmourn
- Card Text: Marvin, Murderous Mimic has all activated abilities of creatures you control that don’t have the same name as this creature.
Up next, we have Marvin, Murderous Mimic. Marvin is a heck of a Magic card. For Commander purposes, what makes this card so exciting is the slew of infinite combos that can be pulled off with him in play. One classic example is to use Marvin alongside Pili-Pala and Palladium Myr to generate infinite mana.
With all these cards in play, you can tap Marvin for two colorless mana, then use that mana to untap Marvin, floating one mana of any color. Repeating this process over and over lets you win the game with an infinite mana payoff, such as Walking Ballista.
Even outside of infinite combos, Marvin should be a solid inclusion in decks that have a Commander with a strong activated ability at the helm. Marvin doesn’t need much to get going.

#3 | Hedge Shredder
- Mana Value: 2GG
- Rarity: Rare
- Stats: 5/5 (Vehicle)
- MTG Sets: Duskmourn
- Card Text: Whenever Hedge Shredder attacks, you may mill two cards. Whenever one or more land cards are put into your graveyard from your library, put them onto the battlefield tapped. Crew 1 (Tap any number of creatures you control with total power 1 or more: This Vehicle becomes an artifact creature until end of turn.)
Hedge Shredder is an interesting card with a ton of upside. You do need to put in some work for this inclusion to be worth it, but the payoff is huge. Any self-mill effects suddenly become massive ramp spells. As such, Hedge Shredder should be a perfect inclusion in a Sidisi, Brood Tyrant deck, for instance.
If you really want to go crazy, pair Hedge Shredder with something like Hermit Druid. Any non-basic lands you reveal along the way with a Hermit Druid activation get to go onto the battlefield. Even Mesmeric Orb becomes a potent ramp piece with Hedge Shredder at the ready. As long as you have the right cards to pair with Hedge Shredder, the vehicle will undoubtedly pull its weight.

#2 | Redress Fate
- Mana Value: 6WW
- Rarity: Rare
- MTG Set: Duskmourn Commander
- Card Text: Return all artifact and enchantment cards from your graveyard to the battlefield. Miracle 3W (You may cast this card for its miracle cost when you draw it if it’s the first card you drew this turn.)
At number two, we have a card from the Miracle Worker Commander deck. Once again, this card is an absolute powerhouse, but requires some setup to get going. In this case, though, if you’re playing a deck with a high density of artifacts or enchantments, Redress Fate has immense potential to completely take over the game.
Unlike Open the Vaults, Redress Fate is one-sided. If you ever face down Bane of Progress or another form of mass artifact and enchantment removal, Redress Fate can catch you right back up. Eight mana is of course a lot, but thanks to its Miracle ability, Redress Fate is the perfect card to Vampiric Tutor for. Late in the game, having access to Redress Fate can be a huge boon, hence why the card is so high on the list.

#1 | Kona, Rescue Beastie
- Mana Value: 3G
- Rarity: Rare
- Stats: 4/3
- MTG Sets: Duskmourn
- Card Text: Survival – At the beginning of your second main phase, if Kona, Rescue Beastie is tapped, you may put a permanent card from your hand onto the battlefield.
Earning the number one spot, we have Kona, Rescue Beastie. Kona was also quite high on our list of the best Duskmourn cards in general. The card is receiving a ton of hype, to the point where there’s concern about the card’s ability to win the game essentially by itself. The only thing holding it back in a Constructed setting may be its mana and setup cost. In Commander, though, this is hardly a problem.
At minimum, you’ll likely be able to find a window to attack with Kona in a multiplayer setting and get your Survival trigger. Getting to put any permanent into play is absolutely devastating. From Omniscience to huge Eldrazi, you can’t go wrong here.
Where things get even more interesting is if you have ways to tap Kona right away. Whether you’re Crewing a Vehicle or tapping Kona with Glare of Subdual and other similar effects, you get the reward of putting in a huge haymaker on the same turn that you play Kona. Kona makes for a great Commander option to lead your squad as well as an awesome support card in your 99. This creature has Commander written all over it, and definitely deserves the title of best MTG Duskmourn Commander.
