Dungeons & Dragons and Magic: The Gathering are crossing-over again!
Wizards of the Coast’s Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons & Dragons are having another crossover event coming this year. Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos is an upcoming Dungeons & Dragons campaign book that will let players have role-playing adventures in one of Magic’s recently-introduced settings. WotC’s senior designer Amanda Hamon will serve as the story lead. The campaign setting won’t be released until Nov. 16, but an official preview will be released on June 8.
In Magic lore, Strixhaven is the elite university for mages located in the plane of Arcavios, and it’s the primary setting of the recently released MTG set, Strixhaven: School of Mages. The five colleges of Strixhaven are each associated with a two-color pair: Quandrix (blue/green), Prismari (blue/red), Lorehold (red/white), Silverquill (white/black), and Witherbloom (black/green).
Official previews for Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos on June 8 should give us an early look at the new rules for character creation. On that same day, Wizards will also debut the new playtest materials titled Unearthed Arcana: Mages of Strixhaven.
Strixhaven: A Curriculum of Chaos is the latest in a long line of similar crossover campaign settings. The series started in 2016 with Plane Shift: Zendikar, which was available to download for free. It was followed by other free-to-download campaign books, Plane Shift: Innistrad, Plane Shift: Amonkhet, Plane Shift: Kaladesh, and Planeshift: Ixalan. Wizards started charging for these crossover products in 2018 with Guildmaster’s Guide to Ravnica.
Magic: The Gathering is also getting a crossover Dungeons & Dragons set with Adventures in the Forgotten Realms releasing this July. One of the cards recently leaked reveals a new dungeon-inspired mechanic.
