Intruder Alarm is a busted Magic card, known for its many infinite combos in Commander. And it just got another infinite combo thanks to a new Commander from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. Now, prices are rising.

Intruder Alarm

Intruder Alarm was less than $10.00 last week. But it has since doubled in price and is currently going for about $20.00. Online vendors almost sold out of Intruder Alarm, but at the time of writing, there are still 25 listings left of the Stronghold printing and 34 listings left of the 8th Edition printing.

What Caused Intruder Alarm’s Price to Rise?

Wizards of the Coast designed an unprecedented Commander in the Buckle Up preconstructed deck. It is a vehicle that has the ability to serve as your Commander.

Shorikai is poised to be a popular Commander. It draws cards, makes tokens, and you can crew it to turn it into a massive 8/8 creature. What else could you want from a Commander?

As seen last week, Shorikai caused the price of Unwinding Clock to spike. Now, Magic players excited for the new vehicle Commander have turned their attention and wallets to Intruder Alarm.

Both Unwinding Clock and Intruder Alarm fill similar roles in a Shorikai deck. Unwinding Clock untaps Shorikai in each upkeep, enabling you to activate its ability multiple times in a turn cycle. Intruder Alarm, however, can let Shorikai activate its ability multiple times in a single turn, and even creates an infinite combo with the Commander.

Draw Infinite Cards!

In addition to Shorikai and Intruder Alarm, all you’ll need to create an infinite combo is at least one mana-producing creature. This effect isn’t abundant in blue and white, as it is in green’s case, but here are a few options:

Here’s how the infinite combo works assuming you have the required cards in play and Shorikai is a creature:

  1. Tap Gold Myr to make a white mana.
  2. Use that mana to activate Shorikai’s ability. Draw two cards, discard one, and make a Pilot creature token.
  3. The Pilot token that enters play triggers Intruder Alarm, untapping all of your creatures.
  4. Repeat steps 1-3.

From here, there are two ways to win:

  1. If you only have one mana-producing creature, you can still draw your entire library and win with either Laboratory Maniac or Thassa’s Oracle.
  2. If you have more than one mana-producing creature (or one creature that produces two mana in the case of Palladium Myr), this combo will also net you infinite mana. At that point, you can finish your opponents off with an infinitely large Walking Ballista.
