Look, there are a lot of weird memes in Magic: The Gathering. We love a lot of them, because they help show off the weird and wonderful interactions in the game we all love. You’ve got things like Squirrels being able to take down Dragons, for example.

There’s also the fact that a Lightning Bolt is no longer enough to wipe out most Humans. It’s the logic of the game, and only the game, that makes it so entertaining to mess around with. The rules of the game don’t really mimic anything you’d see in real life, and it’s fun. Because of this, and thanks to a new spoiler from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, a new meme has been born.

It’s my ninja way!

The card in question is Satoru Umezawa. This is a three-mana blue and black 2/4 that reads, “Whenever you activate a ninjutsu ability, look at the top three cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order. This ability triggers only once each turn.” So, it’s going to be the new Hokage around these parts.

On top of that though, the card also grants each creature in your hand the ninjutsu cost of four mana. This allows you to swap them with an attacking unblocked creature on the battlefield for that cost. It means that everything that can fight in the same deck as tooltips]Satoru Umezawa[/tooltips] is now a ninja. It also means that we’ve all been blessed with the image above thanks to Reddit.

We’ll probably write about how great this card will be as a Commander at some point, sure, but for now, it’s important to just enjoy how absolutely stellar the memes are. Also, maybe it’s time to go and rewatch Naruto or something. We’ve just got an urge to indulge in ninja stuff now. Dattebayo!
