As the spoiler season for Adventures in the Forgotten Realms continues today, Wizards of the Coast has revealed the fourth planeswalker card from the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons-themed Magic: The Gathering set. In addition to Grandmaster of Flowers and other rare/mythic rare cards revealed today, we also get our first look at a brand new blue planeswalker card featuring Mordenkainen, the arch wizard of the D&D multiverse. The preview was officially revealed by Polygon, and it shows D&D co-creator Gary Gygax’s player character in a MTG planeswalker card.

The six-to-cast blue planeswalker card comes with 5 Loyalty, and once he comes into play, you can activate his first ability to draw more cards. His second ability lets you spawn a Dog Illusion creature token with power and toughness equal to twice the number of cards in your hand. His ultimate lets you switch your hand and library, then permanently removes your maximum hand size limit for the rest of the game.

Because of the card’s high mana cost, it’s likely that we won’t see this planeswalker used much in competitive Standard and any other constructed formats, but having an ultimate ability that lets you play your library without paying any of the cards’ mana costs looks fun to unleash in multiplayer Commander games.
