In recent years, it’s been no secret that Magic: The Gathering has been doing rather well. Wizards has posted back-to-back record profits in recent quarters and years, seemingly never missing a beat.
For better or worse, most of the credit often goes to Universes Beyond sets, thanks to their insane value potential. As it turns out, however, sets in the Magic Multiverse have been pulling their weight too, especially this year.
According to Mark Rosewater, MTG’s Head Designer, 2026 has been a standout year for in-universe sets. Now, the top three best-selling Magic Multiverse sets of all time come from this year, but that record might not last long.

Mark Rosewater: The top three selling Multiverse Magic premier sets are Secrets of Strixhaven, Reality Fracture, and Lorwyn Eclipsed. 2026 has been a great year for Multiverse Magic sets.”

Given how much fun each of the three Magic Multiverse sets from 2026 has been, they’re each undeniably deserving of this accolade. Secrets of Strixhaven, in particular, felt like an all-around slam dunk, and Reality Fracture truly delivered as a capstone set.
Considering how long MTG players waited for a return to Lorwyn, it’s no surprise this set did well too. Each Magic Multiverse set from 2026 feels like Wizards at their best, and each has been a true delight.
Realistically, though, while these sets have definitely been fun to play, that’s not the sole reason they’re doing well. For better or worse, Universes Beyond has pulled these sets up, as it’s consistently bringing in new players.
As more Universes Beyond sets are released and Magic’s player count grows, these current top performers may end up overshadowed. Looking at the 2027 release calendar, too, this could happen sooner rather than later, as early impressions are very positive.
Notably, though, while the 2026 sales record is undeniably impressive, Magic Multiverse sets aren’t totally topping the charts. Universes Beyond remains the clear frontrunner, but even Modern Horizons sets remain above Magic Multiverse releases.
Given the trajectory that Magic Multiverse sets have been on, however, it may change before too long. Whether or not that’ll happen in 2027 remains to be seen right now, though, so we’ll just have to wait till then.
