After the recent reveals at New York Comic Con, MTG and Marvel fans are sitting pretty. Naturally, the mix of main set spoilers and Commander decks previewed for Darkhold Destiny has plenty of players excited for 2027. For players who don’t want to wait that long to get their hands on new cards, however, a new Marvel Secret Lair product is just around the corner!

Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel’s History of Heroes

Dubbed the Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel’s History of Heroes drop, this limited quantity product appears to feature some banger reprints. At the top of the list is undoubtedly Fierce Guardianship Fierce Guardianship Fierce Guardianship If you control a commander, you may cast this spell without paying its mana cost.
Counter target noncreature spell.
, a free counterspell that protects your threats and stops your opponent’s combos. Appearing in over 860,000 decks according to EDHREC, this tool is always in high demand and sits at over $59 as a result.

While this instant is certainly in a class of its own pricewise, several other cards in this image fall in the $15-$25 range. Timber Protector Timber Protector Timber Protector Other Treefolk creatures you control get +1/+1.
Other Treefolk and Forests you control have indestructible.
is the highest of the bunch at roughly $23, mainly because of its scarcity rather than demand. Given that it just got spoiled as part of the Corn Maze Secret Lair Superdrop, though, it’s a bit strange to see it earn another Secret Lair reprint so soon.

By contrast, though, Devastation Devastation Devastation Destroy all creatures and lands. was in desperate need of a reprint. Destroying all creatures and lands, Devastation hasn’t been reprinted since the Starter 1999 set and still carries a nearly $18 price tag despite being rather inefficient. Now, with new artwork for the first time, Commander players may be able to get the niche effect more affordably.

Similarly, Molten Duplication Molten Duplication Molten Duplication Create a token that's a copy of target artifact or creature you control, except it's an artifact in addition to its other types. It gains haste until end of turn. Sacrifice it at the beginning of the next end step. is getting its first reprint since its appearance in The Big Score. This $15 sorcery is a fantastic addition to Commander decks with powerful ETB effects, like Etali, Primal Conqueror Etali, Primal Conqueror Etali, Primal Conqueror Trample
When Etali enters, each player exiles cards from the top of their library until they exile a nonland card. You may cast any number of spells from among the nonland cards exiled this way without paying their mana costs.
{9}{G/P}: Transform Etali. Activate only as a sorcery.
. With over 94,000 deck-count appearances according to EDHREC, this is a welcome reprint, even if it doesn’t have a huge impact on the card’s secondary market value.

For more sought-after designs, Heroic Intervention Heroic Intervention Heroic Intervention Permanents you control gain hexproof and indestructible until end of turn. and Opposition Agent Opposition Agent Opposition Agent Flash
You control your opponents while they're searching their libraries.
While an opponent is searching their library, they exile each card they find. You may play those cards for as long as they remain exiled, and you may spend mana as though it were mana of any color to cast them.
also appear in this Secret Lair. The former sees play in nearly 1.5 million decks according to EDHREC, and this high level of demand has kept its value near $16 despite its countless reprints. Opposition Agent is a touch behind in popularity, but as a Commander Game Changer, there’s bound to be tons of demand for it. Thanks to screwing over your opponent’s tutor attempts, this card is easily worth its $20 price tag.

While these reprints are exciting, not every Secret Lair card is this valuable, as Fighter Class and Vigor Vigor Vigor Trample
If damage would be dealt to another creature you control, prevent that damage. Put a +1/+1 counter on that creature for each 1 damage prevented this way.
When Vigor is put into a graveyard from anywhere, shuffle it into its owner's library.
sit at $9 and $2, respectively. Vigor’s price, in particular, completely tanked after its reprint in the Turtle Power! precon, making it by far the weakest of the reveals thus far.

How to Buy

Those interested in purchasing a Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel’s History of Heroes can buy one on November 2nd at 9 a.m. PT, presumably on the Secret Lair website. Each kit includes 30 cards and costs $199.99. While this is quite expensive for a Secret Lair, it is what past Countdown Kit Secret Lairs have gone for. Despite the price, Secret Lair’s Countdown Kits have often offered decent reprint value.

To show this Lair’s reprint potential, the eight cards revealed so far have a reprint value of roughly $163 on their own. Assuming even just a handful of the remaining reprints are valuable, this Countdown Kit could be well worth picking up. With that in mind, keep your eyes peeled for any other spoilers previewed in the coming weeks.
