In addition to the recently spoiled Garfield drops, another famous cartoon cat will also be making its Secret Lair debut soon. As part of the Cats are the Best Superdrop, we’ll be getting a full MTG Secret Lair drop dedicated to Felix, the 1920’s silent film superstar. As with many drops these days, the value here is middling, but there is one particularly notable reprint that’s sure to please players.
Secret Lair x Felix the Cat: Magic Bag of Tricks

Barrowgoyf, or ‘Feral Felix’ as it’s styled here, is the clear highlight of the Felix the Cat: Magic Bag of Tricks drop. This Modern Horizons 3 Commander card sees a ton of play in Legacy, primarily in Dimir Tempo and Doomsday lists. It’s no slouch in Commander, either, with a particularly strong presence in Midrange Duel Commander lists. This drop marks the card’s first-ever reprint, which is great to see given its current $14 price tag.
Things drop off considerably after Barrowgoyf, with Mind’s Eye being the next-priciest card at $5. While it sees a fair bit of Commander and cEDH play as a generic draw engine, it’s not the most exciting reprint. The previously-revealed Time Stretch, at $3, is in a similar boat, as outside of high-level Commander and Premodern play, it’s hardly a staple.
Rounding out the Felix drop, we have a couple of bulk cards in Future Sight and Throes of Chaos. While they’re very cheap, at $0.26 and $0.20, respectively, these cards do have their uses. Future Sight is solid in Commander and sees play in a few Premodern Combo decks, like Doomsday and Devourer Combo, to boot. Throes of Chaos, similarly, has a spot in plenty of Commander lists, as well as in Creative Technique lists in Legacy.
A Mixed Bag
Overall, the MTG Felix Secret Lair drop only offers around $22.50 in value, which makes it a pretty shoddy proposition for the $29.99 MSRP. As always with Secret Lair, however, there’s a decent chance that the new art here propels prices on these versions higher.
Both Time Stretch and Future Sight have had previous Secret Lair printings, currently valued at $24 and $4, respectively. If these Felix versions land in a similar area, that nearly doubles the value on this drop right out of the gate. When you consider Barrowgoyf’s widespread play and the new Wizard of Barge art on Throes of Chaos, there’s serious potential for growth here.
Wherever it lands value-wise, it’s great to see a Secret Lair drop where every card is playable somewhere. Though the Felix drop feels very much geared towards older formats in that sense, the Commander utility of the cards here does give it wider appeal as well.
