MTG Hatsune Miku Leaks Reveal $56 Combo Angel Reprint

This one's gonna be pricey, folks...

Yesterday, a social media leak revealed the existence of an upcoming Hatsune Miku Secret Lair Commander deck, much to the delight of the idol’s many fans. Though we only got to see a single, underwhelming card from the deck in that reveal, the leaker didn’t make us wait long for more. Two more cards were shared from the same source today, including a Hatsune Miku version of the pricey Archangel of Thune.

The Hatsune Miku Archangel Of Thune

Hatsune Miku Archangel of Thune

Believe it or not, Archangel of Thune is actually a $56 card on the low end right now. This is largely down to the card’s huge playability in Commander, where it shines in all kinds of decks.

Fair strategies like Lifegain or Angel Typal love the card for its incredible value potential, so it has a ton of casual appeal. In higher brackets, it also enables a number of two-card infinite combos with the likes of Walking Ballista and Spike Feeder. Thanks to these lines, the card even sees some play in cEDH on occasion.

Archangel of Thune is also on the pricey side due to a relative lack of reprints. It’s had a couple over the years, but always at mythic, and never in mainline sets. This Hatsune Miku version of the card is unlikely to bring prices down here, either, as in all likelihood it’ll be the most expensive printing yet.

The card has appeared in a Secret Lair Commander deck before back in 2023, and that version now sells for around $98. Given the popularity of the Hatsune Miku IP and the premium this has added to past cards, this version could be worth significantly more than that.

Shalai, Voice Of Plenty

Hatsune Miku Archangel of Thune Shalai Voice of Plenty

Shalai, Voice of Plenty is considerably less exciting than Archangel of Thune financially, but it’s arguably stronger from a playability perspective. Like Archangel, this legend sees a ton of play in Commander, all the way up to cEDH. It’s a valuable protection piece in more removal-heavy metas, and it’s a nice mana sink/finisher in a pinch. On top of this, Shalai actually sees some scattered play in Modern, as a handy tool for Devoted Druid Combo decks to tutor up.

Despite its wide-ranging utility, Shalai, Voice of Plenty is a $1 due to multiple meaningful reprints. That said, the Secret Lair version of the card is around $13 right now, so we could see a similar end point on this one. In any case, both of these new leaks make the Hatsune Miku deck seem much more like a sure thing. Hopefully Wizards won’t keep us waiting to long before an official announcement.
