MTG Reality Fracture: Release Date, Spoilers, Details, and More

Share

Despite Universes Beyond getting more sets in 2026, this is a big year for in-universe Magic: The Gathering. Not only did we return to Lorwyn, at long last, but we’ve also got a major capstone set this year. Releasing in early October, Reality Fracture will finally end Magic’s three-year Metronome arc with a bang.

Reality Fracture takes us into the Echoverse, a “what if?” version of the Multiverse created by the planeswalker Jace Beleren. With mirrored pairs of legends and Hexhaven, a dark inversion of Strixhaven, at its heart, this is a set that plays with the very foundations of Magic itself. If you’re looking for the lowdown on this exciting new expansion, we’ve got you covered with everything there is to know.

MTG Reality Fracture Spoilers

MTG Reality Fracture Spoilers 2

Reality Fracture is one of the most exciting MTG sets of 2026 in terms of new cards, with a huge range of bangers on offer for multiple formats. The colorshifted takes on classic staples are powerful in their own right, and many of the Mirrored Pairs, even the low-rarity ones, are surprisingly playable as well. Given how powerful, and experimental, many of the designs here are, it feels like a Standard-legal Modern Horizons set in many ways.

Once spoiler season is complete, this section will be updated with links to lists of our top picks from this spicy new set. Whether you want to know about the highlights for Commander and constructed, or what the big money pulls from the set will be, watch this space for more.

MTG Reality Fracture Card Treatments

MTG Reality Fracture Card Treatments 2

As you’d expect from a new MTG set, Reality Fracture has some spicy alternate card treatments on offer. The big hitter here is the textless, serialized, Collector Booster-exclusive Bloodline Recollector Bloodline Recollector Bloodline Recollector At the beginning of each end step, if three or more creatures died this turn, this creature becomes prepared. (While it's prepared, you may cast a copy of its spell. Doing so unprepares it.) , with only 500 serialized copies worldwide. While prices on serialized cards do fluctuate, this new Headliner could easily sell for several thousand dollars.

Reality Fracture will also feature a stunning new borderless treatment with its Shattered Mirror cards. This treatment will be applied to 13 cards in the set, all of which are alternate-reality twists on existing Magic cards, like Stingcaster Mage Stingcaster Mage Stingcaster Mage Haste
When this creature enters, target instant or sorcery card in your graveyard gains flashback until end of turn. The flashback cost is equal to its mana cost. (You may cast that card from your graveyard for its flashback cost. Then exile it.)
. You can find this treatment in both Play and Collector Boosters. These cards will also be available in a Facet Foil version, which is Collector Booster-exclusive.

Additionally, Reality Fracture introduces the very funky Braintwister series treatment, which really highlights the extent of Jace’s Multiversal meddling. This treatment will be applied to 23 total cards in the set, including The Theorist, Jace Beleren The Theorist, Jace Beleren The Theorist, Jace Beleren At the beginning of each opponent's draw step, you draw a card.
+1: Create a 1/1 blue Illusion creature token.
−2: For each opponent, return up to one target artifact or creature that player controls to its owner's hand.
−6: Draw three cards. Then put X +1/+1 counters on each creature you control, where X is the number of cards in your hand.
, and can be found in both Play and Collector Boosters.

Another intriguing new treatment from Reality Fracture is Showcase Sculptor’s Stronghold, which is intended to reflect Jace’s “Echoverse aesthetic.” This treatment will be applied to 18 total rares in the set, as well as seven mythic rares. You can find this treatment, in non-foil and traditional foil, in both Play and Collector Boosters.

Finally, the Japan Showcase treatment is making a comeback here on 10 different cards. As always, these cards will only be available in foil or Fractured Foil, and only in Collector Boosters.

MTG Reality Fracture Echoed Pairs

MTG Reality Fracture Echoed Pairs

As announced at MagicCon: Las Vegas, Reality Fracture will include an echoed Pair in every pack. The red and blue Chandras we saw in the early spoilers are an example of this idea in action. This is the big innovation that Mark Rosewater has been teasing about on social media for the past few years, previously thought impossible due to printing requirements. Each Play and Collector Booster will include one full Echoed Pair, as well as an additional Echoed Pairs card on its own.

In total, there are 86 Echoed Pair cards in Reality Fracture, split into 43 pairs. 66 of these cards are uncommons, 14 are rares, and six are mythics. Of these pairs, all of the rares and mythics, and 10 of the uncommons, are also available as Borderless Echoed Pairs too. For the most part Echoed Pairs are made up of two legendary creatures, but there are also pairs of planeswalkers and enchantments in the set, too.

MTG Reality Fracture Mechanics

MTG Reality Fracture Mechanics

Though it’s one of the most complex sets we’ve seen in a while story-wise, Reality Fracture is actually quite simple in terms of mechanics. There are just two new mechanics here, and one major returning mechanic.

  • Empower Jace: This is an ability that creates a Jace planeswalker token, then puts a number of loyalty counters on it equal to the value of the ability. If you Empower Jace 3, for example, you’ll put three loyalty counters on it. If you already have a Jace token, this ability simply puts that many loyalty counters on it instead. The Jace token this ability creates has two abilities: a -1 which lets you Surveil 1, and a -3 which lets you draw a card.
  • Heartwood Tokens: This is a new token type created by the Gruul-colored Konstrari school. These are red and green artifact tokens that tap for either red or green mana.
  • Prepared: This is a returning mechanic from Secrets of Strixhaven. Creatures with Prepared have spells attached, which you can cast while they’re Prepared. Doing so makes them Unprepared, meaning you’ll need to find a way to Prepare them again to cast their spell multiple times.

MTG Reality Fracture Commander Deck

MTG Reality Fracture Commander Deck

In an unusual twist, Reality Fracture features just one Commander deck, called Multiverse Reforged. This WUBR deck represents Jace’s many creations in the Echoverse, with funky Echoed versions of many popular characters. The game plan here is similarly unique, relying on Jace, Multiverse Architect Jace, Multiverse Architect Jace, Multiverse Architect At the beginning of combat on each opponent's turn, they may pay {2}. If they don't, creatures they control can't attack Jaces you control this turn.
+1: Draw two cards, then put a card from your hand on the bottom of your library.
−3: Exile another target planeswalker or creature you control. Reveal cards from the top of your library until you reveal a creature or planeswalker card. Put that card onto the battlefield and the rest on the bottom of your library in a random order.
Jace, Multiverse Architect can be your commander.
’s -3 ability to essentially Polymorph Polymorph Polymorph Destroy target creature. It can't be regenerated. Its controller reveals cards from the top of their library until they reveal a creature card. The player puts that card onto the battlefield, then shuffles all other cards revealed this way into their library. your tokens into real threats.

The Secret Lair Bundle is an all-new product for MTG Reality Fracture. It contains two Collector Boosters, six Play Boosters, a set of traditional foil basic lands, and two of 10 possible Secret Lair-style promo cards.

These promo cards each feature distinctive artwork reminiscent of what you’d find in Secret Lair drops, with artists like Desmuncubic working on them. The following is a full list of the possible promo cards for the Secret Lair Bundle:
