MTG Marvel Super Heroes Release Date Revealed Alongside $150 Precon

Share

Starting off 2026, there was some hope that Magic’s endless spoiler season would finally be fixed. Even with seven major releases on the release calendar, Wizards was trying new experiments to solve past problems. Ideally, this was meant to give MTG players time to actually enjoy their sets without being overwhelmed.

Unfortunately, in practice, 2026 has gotten off to an incredibly poor start, arguably the worst in years. We’re not even a month in yet, and already we’ve been utterly bombarded with spoilers and leaks. Lorwyn Eclipsed didn’t even get a day to itself without Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spoiling the show, and it hasn’t gotten better since then.

Now, in a presentation at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, Wizards has just revealed a ton of upcoming MTG content. While all of this new information is very exciting, especially the new release dates, keeping up with everything is definitely a struggle.

Marvel Super Heroes Release Date Confirmed

When first showing off the 2026 release calendar at MagicCon: Atlanta last year, Wizards kept a few things to themselves. Exact release dates, for instance, were shrouded in mystery, as we were instead just given a month to look forward to. Now, however, Wizards has confirmed the exact release dates for both Secrets of Strixhaven and Marvel Super Heroes.

  • Secrets of Strixhaven Release Date: April 24th
  • Marvel Super Heroes Release Date: June 26th

As usual, since Wizards still insist on having overly confusing release dates, we can expect prereleases to precede these official release dates by one week. Before then, we’ll also have the debut event, which kicks off spoiler season, typically two to three weeks beforehand. That said, if Wizards try more spoiler season experiments this year, the schedule may be slightly different.

Even without extra spoiler season shenanigans, these two sets have a surprisingly decent amount of time between them. With almost exactly two months separating the release dates, there’s a good chance players can sit back and properly enjoy each set. That being said, Wizards may well release a bunch of different spoilers in this gap, spoiling things somewhat.

$150 Precons?!

MTG Marvel Super Heroes Precons

Unfortunately, while the release dates are good news for MTG players, the prices of some Marvel Super Heroes products are anything but. For better or worse, Wizards is bringing back $150 precons for this set to make it as collectible as possible. Notably, while this price tag is eye-watering, this technically isn’t new within the grand scheme of MTG.

Last seen with the Final Fantasy MTG set, Collector’s Edition Commander decks are a somewhat common sight nowadays. For this staggering $150 MSRP, every card inside gets a Surge Foil treatment, which admittedly does look very nice. On top of this, these decks are also somewhat scarce, causing the cards inside to go for insane premiums.

Thankfully, the normal versions of the Marvel Super Heroes precons are much more appropriately priced at just $69.99. Obviously, this still isn’t cheap, but even this price could be a far cry from what these decks actually end up selling for. If anything, the only good news here is that the official reveal of these precons confirms the past leaks.

Built around the Avengers, Black Panther, the Fantastic Four, and Marvel Villains, each deck is bound to be stuffed with iconic characters. As far as their gameplay goes, however, MTG players aren’t convinced these decks will be anything new. That said, we’re still months away from the set’s spoiler season starting, so we could easily be surprised.

Plenty of Products

Unsurprisingly, as one of the bigger Universes Beyond MTG sets in 2026, Wizards is going all out. On top of the four precons, Wizards has also created a pair of Scene Boxes, a Gift Bundle, a Jumpstart set, and a Beginner Box. So far, details about each of these products are fairly limited; however, the GameSpot reveal does contain a few tidbits.

Thanks to the packaging of the Scene Boxes being revealed, for instance, we kind of already know what’s inside. From what we can see, the “Heroes United” box features tons of core Avengers, including the Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel. Meanwhile, the “Villains Unleashed” box showcases Thanos, M.O.D.O.K., Kang, Loki, and more.

Despite having an absolute mountain of characters on display, each Scene Box should only contain six cards. While this might be somewhat disappointing, the accompanying Jumpstart set should deliver tons of content. So far, GameSpot has only revealed four packet themes: “Spider-Verse, Thunderbolts, Doom, and Iron Man.”

With a Captain America vs. Iron Man Beginner Box and a Gift Bundle on top, players will be spoilt for choice on June 26th. Hopefully, when this release date rolls around, the actual cards in the set won’t end up disappointing players.
