At New York Comic Con 2025, Wizards of the Coast officially announced the MTG TMNT set. Beyond just announcing this set’s existence, Wizards of the Coast went all out. Unveiling plenty of art, spoilers, products, and details, there’s plenty to pore over already. Unsurprisingly, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles MTG set has some pretty powerful Turtles, and plenty more beyond that.
Releasing in March of 2026, the TMNT set is now the next MTG release on the horizon. Thanks to this, and the recent litany of leaks, it’s hard not to get excited about the set. As such, it’s the perfect time to look over everything the set has to offer. Here’s everything there is to know about the MTG x TMNT set releasing in 2026.
MTG TMNT Release Date

The MTG TMNT set will be officially released on March 6th, 2026. As always, prerelease events for the set will happen a week prior, on February 27th, 2026. Arguably, this is the more important release date of the two, since the sets become legal in all formats when prerelease events start.
Beyond the main release dates, Wizards of the Coast has been surprisingly forthcoming at the New York Comic Con reveal. All of the important dates for the set have been unveiled already, so we don’t have to guess when things are happening. Here are all the key dates for the MTG TMNT set.
- MTG TMNT Debut: February 10th, 2026
- Prerelease Events: February 27th – March 5th
- MTG Arena Release Date: March 3rd
- Tabletop Release Date: March 6th
As always, on top of the main release dates, Wizards of the Coast has also confirmed when play events for the set will be happening.
- Commander Box League: February 27th – March 5th
- Magic Spotlight: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: March 6th – 8th
- Commander Party, Round 1: March 13th – 19th
- Magic Presents: Turtle Time: March 13th – April 16th
- Commander Party, Round 2: April 4th – 9th
MTG TMNT Spoilers

So far, Wizards of the Coast has only revealed 21 TMNT MTG spoilers officially. This was rather generous for a First Look, as Wizards revealed both main-set and unique eternal legal cards. Wizards also revealed we’re getting a source material bonus sheet with this set by revealing a Doubling Season reprint.
From these early official spoilers, it appears that the set has plenty of potential across multiple formats. We’ve already seen a series of potential powerhouses in Commander, and the set’s even getting its very own five-color precon. As if that wasn’t enough, some cards appear to have serious competitive viability as well.
Unfortunately for anyone excited about the set, we won’t get any more official TMNT MTG spoilers until February 10th, 2026. That said, while official spoilers are still a ways away, there have been a huge number of leaks in the meantime.
MTG TMNT Leaks

Thanks to what’s believed to be a production problem, TMNT MTG cards have appeared within Lorwyn Eclipsed Prerelease Packs. Replacing the usual foil promo in some cases, a surprising number of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles spoilers have appeared online already. In fact, it seems that 53 cards have been revealed already, almost every rare and mythic from the set.
Notably, since these are leaks, there’s a non-zero chance that some of the cards that were revealed recently aren’t genuine. That being said, due to Wizards of the Coast addressing the leaks online, it does appear the majority are real. Sadly, this may end up spoiling the set’s spoiler season when it rolls around on February 10th.
From what we’ve seen so far, the vast majority of leaked cards aren’t exceptionally powerful. There are a few compelling constructed upgrades and plenty of unique build-around options, but nothing concerningingly broken. If this set does have one claim to fame, it’ll be for containing some of the word card names ever printed, like Does Machines.
MTG TMNT Set Details

For better or worse, it has been revealed that the TMNT set is smaller than the average MTG release. Magic Multiverse sets tend to be around 280 cards, while the TMNT set only contains 190 cards. This makes it even smaller than the MTG Spider Man set, which was slammed for the problems its size created.
Thankfully, according to Wizards of the Coast, the TMNT MTG set was always designed to be this way. Unlike MTG Spider Man, it didn’t originally start off as a Beyond Booster set, so it should play better. That’s the hope, at least, as there’s currently no telling what the limited environment will look like.
MTG TMNT Mechanics

So far, Wizards of the Coast has only revealed one main mechanic from the MTG TMNT set, Sneak. Sadly, this mechanic wasn’t revealed very smoothly, as only one card during the First Look had rules text. While this explained how Raphael’s Technique worked, it wasn’t clear how the ability functioned on creatures like Leonardo, Sewer Samurai.
Thankfully, MTG’s Head Designer, Mark Rosewater, quickly stepped in to clear up the confusion. Essentially, Sneak functions like a fixed version of Ninjutsu, so when you Sneak in a creature, it’ll be tapped and attacking. Spells like Raphael’s Technique, meanwhile, will simply be cast upon the additional cost is paid. Because Sneak is an alternate casting cost, it also works from the Command Zone.
Alongside Sneak, Wizards of the Coast has also shown off the new Mutagen Tokens, which will feature heavily in the set. Thankfully, these tokens are very mechanically simple, as they can simply be cracked for one mana to put a +1/+1 counter on a creature.
While these are the only Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles MTG mechanics we’ve seen so far, they’re unlikely to be the last. If there are more mechanics, these will be revealed during the set’s official debut on February 10th, 2026.
MTG TMNT Products

While the MTG TMNT set is smaller than most Standard legal sets, it does have a few extra products. Not only is this set getting a special, and rather expensive, bundle, but it’s got a brand new multiplayer product too. Dubbed Turtle Team-Up, this $49.99 box contains four preconstructed decks, alongside an enemy deck with brand new Archenemy-esque cards.
Sadly, while this product sounds very exciting, details about it and official spoilers from it are under wraps right now. Thankfully, once the spoiler season for the TMNT MTG set begins, all should be revealed. Until then, we’ll just have to wait patiently for more information.
